Linky Links

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- In wake of Impeachment, Biden White House sends memos to corporate media to go after Republicans. All it takes is for Biden to address the press live but I think that'll never happen.

Interesting look a Alabama visiting non-Power 5 USF on Saturday. Always found it amusing that the University of Southern Florida is in Tampa. If you know your geography - this is amusing.

- Iconic Seattle fish market to close after 77-years amid rising crime and homelessness. Hard not to laugh at the self-inflicted wounds of Seattle and Portland.

- Profile pf Alex Rodriguez on ESPN that paints him as a steroids using, rat informant. One can't help but wonder if ESPN is trying to get A-Rod out of the broadcast booth.

More stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

-  Interesting - Japan PM reaffirms Web3 plans.

I was unaware of this. I am suddenly more skeptical of childhood vaccines.

- My Family was Hunted by Nazi but I was Fired. Was sure this was going to be written by Rosanne Barr but instead I get an example of the Left (unsurprisedly) eating its own. The author is wrong - Twitter is not that sort of place - Seattle is.

- Think this would be a good law. Also in support of "farmers market-type" places for hunters to locally sell excess deer and other game meat.

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Isn't about time to start calling what's happening in Portland and Seattle a quagmire? There seems no end in sight and more cops are quitting in both cities every day... What are we doing to our kids?... History fact for the day - in 1910 there were 8,000 automobiles in the US but only 10 miles of paved road... Always surprises me that George Brett is not the all-time batting average leader for the Kansas City Royals. Brett's .305 average is second to Jose Offerman's career .306 average... Just saying but "Stoink" would not be a good nickname for a field goal kicker... Today's word for the day is "holoholo" which is Hawaiian for "to ramble for pleasure"... When I was growing up Dan Marino was the gold standard for passing yards. Number one in career passing yards by far. This season Marino should be passed by Ben Roethlisberger and slip all the way down to seventh place on the all-time list. It's a different game today...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

Watched the first half of the Patriots game yesterday at a friend's restaurant. He used to be a huge Patriots fan but now because the embrace of BLM by the NFL and the protesting of police and the flag - he won't allow the audio of any game be played in his restaurant - even Patriots games. The NFL really has alienated a lot of former life-long fans... Wait Canadian wildfires are 36% less than normal? So why is California so out of control? Is there no "climate change" in Canada. Is Mother Gaia happy with Canadians?... Speaking of Canadians - yesterday would have been Neil Peart's birthday. He's gone way too young... With Amazon basically moving out of Seattle coupled with the riots - the chances of Seattle getting another NBA franchise are zero. This is a perfect demonstration of the phrase "Why you can't have nice things"... Beach and Pina Colada season is officially over. It is now beer and football season... Thinking of having business cards made up - "Chris Lynch Professional Enthusiast" because it sounds cool and because why not?...

Flotsam and Jetsam

Miscellaneous thoughts and observations.

One probable outcome of the combination of COVID-19 economic effects and Seattle's CHOP debacle is the chances of Seattle getting another NBA team have probably been flushed down the toilet. Any pro sports team expansion is probably not happening now and even if it were why would the NBA go to a city whose existing businesses will soon be fleeing?.. This was no coincidence. "10 states had unemployment rates in May above 15%. They are all states with Democratic governors, with the exception of deep-blue Massachusetts with its liberal Republican governor, Charlie Baker."...  And speaking of Seattle's CHOP - yesterday I saw that both CHOP and Jay Cutler were trending on Twitter. How funny would have been if this was because Jay Cutler was filming a new reality show about him living in the autonomous zone and not giving a shit about anything. They could call it The Ultimate Nihilist... And speaking of protests - how funny would it be if it turns out the attacks on statues in Washington DC and Philly were underwritten by the Boston Chamber of Commerce as a way to increase the value of Boston's Freedom Trail business... "What I've learned in my life is if someone is acting badly, they're in pain. It's a really simple rule, they're either scared or in pain." -Sebastian Junger...

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- The Segway, the most hyped product since the Macintosh, ceases production. Way back in 2005 I compared the Segway to Bush's nomination of Harriet Miers. Don't think I was far off.

- CCP China really could be in trouble between the protests in Hong Kong, the Wuhan Virus, the border skirmishes with India and a number of other issues. Western corporations would be wise to decouple soon before the bottom really falls out.

- Nassim Taleb - IQ is largely a pseudoscientific swindle.

- 30 (current) beers that changed America

- Businesses sue Seattle over "occupied" protest zone. Good! And if the plaintiffs win how is Seattle to pay the damages? Their modus operandi has been to raise taxes which in turn will force other businesses to flee the city. Seattle could also appeal to the Federal government for relief but good luck with that!
