Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Niall Ferguson: Epstein didn't break Keir Starmer, but he did finish him. The American version could be House of Cards II.

- Sebastian Junger: The Great Abandonment.

Dunkin' debuts 48 ounce coffee buckets and sells out. Bringing them out in New England in the midst of a blizzard perhaps not the best gage of popularity. Or genius way to insure Dunkin' locations get plowed out as these buckets sure to be big hit with plow drivers.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Drinking moderate amounts of coffee can increase lifespans by 1.8 years. Coffee - is there anything it can't do?

- From the archives: This is the best time to be alive. Long read but good periodically to remind yourself to be grateful to be alive today.

- VDH: Trump's Democratic "Allies." They've yet to learn the first rule of holes.

Stuff I found interesting or amusing and thought I'd share.

- Tucker Carlson Episode 102 on Che Guevara.

- The story of Boeing's Starliner spacecraft. Not sure why anyone would choose them over SpaceX at this point.

- The Collapse of the News Industry is Taking its Soul Down with It. This death and lack of swagger is for the corporate media only. When you cower and obey you produce milktoast and nobody's buying that.

- Hot take: Starbucks sales are down because their coffee sucks. Give me a large Dunkin hot coffee.

- Wow - Jeannie Buss and Jay Mohr are engaged. And today many are combing through Mohr's past comments to see if he ever made any jokes about Lebron James.

- Heh Heh - so true!

- Steven Pressfield - Wilderness = Resistance

- Why the "Swamp GOP" is working with Democrats instead of Republicans. Passing a $1.7 trillion budget is unconscionable.

The Power of Coffee Compels You

Some good news for coffee drinkers from Dr. Rhonda Patrick

Drinking 2-3 cups of coffee a day was linked with a longer lifespan and lower risk of cardiovascular disease compared with avoiding coffee. • 27% lower all-cause mortality - ground coffee • 11% lower all-cause mortality - instant • 14% lower all-cause mortality - decaf

Top 5 - Changes for September

Should have posted this yesterday, but all's good. Anyway - here's my five daily habits I'm working on in September.

1. Dr. Weil's 4-7-8 breathing technique. Originally heard about this on the Tim Ferriss podcast and will try doing it twice daily for the month to see what results I get.

2. I'm going to try to cut down from three cups of coffee in the morning to just two cups. These are big cups. My three cups are normally three-quarters of pot of coffee. Cutting down to just half a pot seems about right.

3. I'm adding some supplements back into my daily routine. I stopped taking Vitamin D and Omega 3 supplements for the summer. Now time to add these back into the morning regiment.

4. I'm adding ERG rowing to my Tuesday and Thursday workouts before I swim laps. Just 5-minutes but I'll see how far I get (so far 1,054 meters). Maybe in October I'll increase to 6-minutes.

5. Every day I'm going to tell myself that I'm the happiest person in Worcester. Got the idea from this Michael Lewis quote. Let's see how that works on my mindset.

Wish me luck!

National Coffee Day

Today is National Coffee Day. As you might expect from someone who named his blog after a common order for coffee in New England (growing up a large regular was a large coffee with cream and sugar) - I make every day National Coffee Day.

Numerous health benefits have been linked to either coffee or caffeine so I fully justify my three cups a morning habit. Follow the science!

Hope you get some extra enjoyment this morning after realizing you are helping to celebrate a made up holiday!
