Deutsch: Maria auf dem Thron bereitet sich vor dem Jesuskind die Brust zu geben. Sie ist umgeben von den heiligen Johannes der Täufer, links, und Johannes dem Evangelisten, rechts, mit seinen traditionellen Attributen Buch und Feder.
Français : La Vierge est représentée avec l'enfant Jésus sur un trône, elle s'apprête à lui donner le sein. Elle est entourée de Saint Jean Baptiste (à gauche, qui semble s'adresser aux fidèles ) et de Saint Jean l'Evangéliste (à droite, avec ses attributs traditionnels : le Livre et la Plume). La composition d'ensemble et le paysage devant lequel les personnages sont représentés font l'originalité et la beauté de ce tableau. Les symboles iconographiques y sont très nombreux : le jardin clos, les lys blancs, les vases, les fleurs rouges, les palmes. Ils évoquent la pureté de Marie, la future Passion du Christ et traduisent le rôle et la place de la Vierge dans la mystique chrétienne.
