words I am thankful for
Untitled
I never thought
Of myself as
Alone.
I never thought
Of myself
Requiring another
To define me,
To convince me
That what other's
Thought of me
Was important.
I never understood
The word
Lonely.
In a world so
Full of life,
The fact that
I was not in
The presence of
Another human
Being human,
Did not make
Me feel this
Word.
I am not lonely.
I am not alone.
I am at peace.
I would want to run
Away from the person
I am, I was.
Run swiftly away
Leaving her in the past
And run to a place
Quite unknown
To her or me.
Run till the memory
Of her and her life
Fade until they become
Fine stranded cobwebs
In the corners of my mind.
I wish I could run
'Til my muscles strained,
My breath was all but gone,
And every ounce,
Every fiber of my body
Demanded I stop.
But I would only stop
When all I was,
All I was destined to be
Became shadows
As I stood bravely
In the light.
In that light,
I was not
What others thought of me,
What I believed of myself,
What society, family, friends
Thought I should be.
In that light,
I would be as pure
As that light,
Unencumbered with
False notions and realities
Taught to me since
I was a babe,
I would be more….
Every now and then,
I would want to run
Away from the person
I am, I was,
And every time
I would stay.

words I am thankful for
An Exceptional Year
came
Devoid of pomp
And circumstance,
Of fireworks
And joyous voices,
And I released a
Sigh….
It was as though
I had finished
A good book and
I was content
With the end
And that it had
Ended.
The new year
Had begun and
The old year
Had already started
To fade from my
Memory.
The new year
Has so much
Potential, so much
Opportunities ready
To be grabbed and
Taken advantage of.
So I toss aside
The fears, the sadness,
The confusion, the frustrations
Of the dead year
And walk confidently
Into the future
Along the path
I created.
This is going to be
An exceptional year.

Question - Haiku
The owl landed on the tombstone
And asked who had passed,
"Who you?"
Haiku inspired by The Purple Treehouse
This is my first real attempt at Haiku, see here for more information. This is also a sneak peak into the future of Kim or Lisa. In the past, I have done self imposed challenges based on series of pictures found on the Internet, in 2012, I will be taking on the challenges from other poetry blogs. The plan is to grow as a poet and go beyond my boundaries, wish me luck!!!
P.S. I would like to thank Bajanpoet for introducing me to Dverse which pretty much opened up a whole new world for me. It's like finding the secret doorway that you have been looking for.
