As the effectiveness of traditional cost-cutting measures continues to diminish, the challenge for banks is no longer simply to spend less, but to achieve greater efficiency in a sustainable manner. “Banking Strategic Benchmarking Insights 2025” report by KPMG shows that the improvement in the Cost-to-Income Ratio (CIR) has slowed following the significant gains achieved in 2022-2024. This reflects the increasingly limited impact of traditional cost-reduction measures. With the majority of banking leaders continuing to pursue cost-reduction targets through 2030, banks are shifting their focus towards more sustainable drivers of efficiency, with AI increasingly viewed as a strategic lever. ↓ Read part 5 of the “Banking Strategic Benchmarking Insights 2025” report to explore how banks are reshaping their cost models and leveraging technology to achieve greater efficiency. #KPMG #KPMGinCambodia #Bank
