The Sound of Drums
Jun. 26th, 2007 02:12 pmI loved it. I loved Simm as the Master and I loved Lucy Saxon. It took me a while to recognise her but she was in Tripping Over - an Australian//English soap opera that I really enjoyed. It also had Paul McGann in it - they had a couple of significant scenes together when she was leaking information to him about the evil doings of the Australian government, I think she had just got a job working for him when the series ended.
Back to Dr Who - I really enjoyed this episode. I love it when the show is jokey. I know this does not go over well with all fans but I just adore it. I loved it when the Master was watching the Teletubbies (and I haven't seen anyone else comment on the fact that they featured what had to be one of Tinky-winky's gayer moments). I loved the phone convo. I loved the Master sending Torchwood to the Himalayas. I loved Jack confessing about Torchwood to the Doctor and saying I did it in your honour- this rather explains why the Torchowood team are so crap at their jobs - they are only just starting out. I was intrigued by the jelly-baby moment. I liked the grits remark. I just thoroughly enjoyed everything about the master and I repeat I loved Lucy Saxon -she was the tops - a bit Drusilla-ish in the funnest of ways, though I think slightly saner than Drusilla.

In other news - I am off out of town for a week. Going to Darwin where the Australian government has just declared war on Aboriginal people. THat is actually not why I am going but I reckon it will take up a fair bit of my time while I am there. I am so angry at fucking Johnny Howard. This is a clear election ploy - aimed at the basest instincts of white Australia and all it will do is further damage and traumatise Aboriginal communities. I don't even think that this is an honest conservative response to a problem - if it were he would have spent the money on social workers and places to put children to keep them "safe" (which was such a fucking failure the last time the Aust govt did it that we are still feeling the fucking effects). If it were honest he might have sent more coppers but he would have sent other stuff as well. No this is an entirely dishonest, cynical and borderline fascist response. I am so very very angry about this.
