FIA Japan AGM Reception Report Following its 38th Annual General Meeting on May 20, during which the FY2026 Board of Representatives and Board of Directors were elected, FIA Japan held a networking reception at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan. Futures Industry Association Japan (FIA Japan) is the only organization in Japan with a membership drawn from the entire cross section of the futures industry. Members include futures and securities exchanges, FCMs, security firms, banks and other users of the markets, as well as legal, technology and other professionals that provide services to the industry. We focus on both financial and commodity markets and we stay abreast of both domestic and international development in this global industry. Futures and options markets play an essential role in today’s marketplace and dramatically expand and enhance the investment choices available to financial managers around the world. In Japan this industry, as well as the regulatory structures, is now modernizing as a part of the efforts to establish Tokyo as true global financial center. In this circumstance, the role of FIA Japan has become even more important. FIA Japan was originally organized with the encouragement of the Futures Industry Association based in Washington DC (FIA Washington) as a Chapter, and we continue to cooperate as an international liaison with FIA Washington, sharing information about the global markets. Many of our members are also members of FIA Washington. FIA Japan's mission is to encourage the growth and success of the Japanese financial market-place and its development as a regional and global financial center.

📄 FIA has published a paper outlining industry perspectives on operational capacity and stress testing in relation to the active account requirement under EMIR 3.0. The paper, produced by the FIA EMIR 3.0 working group, explores the practical implementation challenges for market participants subject to the AAR requirement, specifically concerning confirmation of operational capacity, stress testing of operational conditions, and associated reporting requirements. FIA Japan New Year Party 2026 – Panel Discussions and Reception On January 21, FIA Japan held its New Year Party at the International House of Japan. The two-part event was hugely successful with a record-level of registrations, reaching 170 financial industry professionals, including participation from the regulators. On December 15 and 16, 2025, the sixth Meeting of the Japan-EU Joint Financial Regulatory Forum was held in Brussels by the Financial Services Agency (FSA) and the European Commission. At the Forum meeting, participants discussed the market developments in the Japanese, EU, and global markets, as well as financial stability. They also exchanged views on a number of regulatory and supervisory issues, including in the sustainable and digital finance areas, banking and insurance sectors, capital markets as well as possible closer cooperation in international fora.
