FNSI........My test pattern quilt

What I have been doing on my FRIDAY DAY/NIGHT SEW IN
I have been testing a pattern for Jan from The Colourful Fabriholic
 http://thecolorfulfabriholic.blogspot.com.au/2014/10/plus-dash-tutorial-draft-pattern.html

This was the photo of original pattern from Jan

So I decided to go for it today.
I chose to do mine in a neutral colour for a cot quilt size. This way it can be put away for that special little person... It was a great pattern. Very easy to follow.
And yes, the best part was, it was QUICK, LARGE BLOCKS and EASY.
Jan gives you directions for a variety of sizes. The blocks measure 14" so they go together very quickly. The instructions are easy to follow.
After I cut all my pieces I had left over fabric. Just incase I slipped with the rotary... Haha.....
I did have a few fat 1/8ths in Browns so I used them instead of fat 1/4s. I didn't have any trouble with not enough fabric.

Here are my blocks cut out and sewn together. I am very happy with the colours.

Time for a break and off to eat dinner......

Back to follow the rest of the directions and here we have a finished cot size flimsy.
I am very impressed with this pattern as I can see how it would adapt to using up scraps or a feature fabric instead of the background. I will be doing this pattern again....

Now when will I get to quilt it.....

Now to see what others got up to tonight check out here......

Not sure what I will be working on as I am spending all week sewing.

Another day of sewing

A fun ABC quilt.
This is what I have done so far.
I am going to make 3 quilts. Just in case there are some babies on the way..
I'm not sure if I will do one pink, one blue and one multi...
Let's wait and see. I am using my scraps on hand and a cream tone on tone for the background.

Now, on to the Kilmore Quilters "HONOUR QUILT" project.
The blocks for this month are.......
 6F....  ALBERT JOSEPH PATTINSON

 4C....   JAMES JOSEPH CANTWELL

   2C......             FRANCIS O'DWYER.

 5B....  HERBERT THOMAS SKEHAN

3F.. WILLIAM FOSTER CHEESWRIGHT

And just a reminder that these blocks are only 6.5"....

Have a look at the page HONOUR QUILT 2014 by clicking on the tab at the top of this page. It tells you about the people that Maree has chosen to do a block for that were in the war.

And now to go and catch up on this months NEARLY INSANE blocks.......
Yep more time in the sewing room.

A CATCH UP POST

I have been out and about. Sewing and lunching. So this is a post to catch up on what I have been doing and all the link ups I should have done.
Firstly.... On Wednesday Angela had a link up of the half year mark for for RSC 14 sampler blocks. So here are mine. Take a look at what others are doing HERE at Soscrappy

Well I was very busy finishing off a few things.
I had made a couple of drainage bags for CANCER patients.
The FREE pattern was from CHERYLL here

A jelly roll race cot quilt. With heart/leaves quilting and the label is on too.

Then I finished some square bags that I made from a prize of a charm square pack, HOOPLA, from VAL'S QUILTING STUDIO.

Saturday saw me starting my red scraps over at Angela's at Soscrappy making her sampler blocks.

I also did my BUBBLE TREE blocks

And I went ahead and made my paper pieced block for Kerry for this months swap over at
PAPER PIECERS SWAP CLUB. I decided on making WILD ZINNIAS block from Quilters Cache, Quilt blocks galore. This is a great site with many blocks and in all different sizes.

WIP WEDNESDAY

I am linking up with the girls over at. WIP WEDNESDAY.
I am going to a retreat in May and need to make a cot quilt for a donation.
I have decided to do an alternating 9 patch with plain block and then I will appliqué an owl on it.
Well the owl is stuck on and just waiting to be stitched.
It is so cute.....
