The most popular J-1 Visa issued in Ireland is the J-1 Summer Work Travel Program. This program provides students with an opportunity to live and work in the United States during their summer vacation from college or university and to share their culture and ideas with people in the United States through temporary work and travel experiences.  The type of jobs they may work in are restricted to summer seasonal jobs.

It doesn’t matter what visa you are on, you are free to sign up and stay with us, allowing you to start off a great summer in a new, exciting city!

Currently we have buildings in New York, Chicago, Boston & San Francisco, but we are always looking to expand to new locations.

Application opening dates do vary slightly year to year, usually each city would be open around February/March time, but make sure to keep an eye on our social for more info - @J1Accom.

All utility bills and associated costs (taxes, garbage, water, and electricity, wifi, bed linens) are included in your fee, no hidden fees. Included in each payment plan is a refundable €250.00 security deposit and €50 for bedsheets.

Each member of your group must make an application for your chosen city, there will then be a section to choose your group name. It is really important that everyone in your group puts down the same group name so we can place you all in the same area or at least near each other (depending on building layout and availability).

All your needs are met onsite, from internet access to laundry facilities. So when you land stateside, everything you need is there for you; you don’t have to worry about a thing. If you book through J1Accom, you are giving yourself the perfect launch pad in the heart of your new city.

All residence areas offer free wireless and cable, study lounges, recreation rooms, TV lounges, laundry rooms, 24 hours/day security officers and dedicated professional staff. All residential spaces come with an extra long twin sized bed, desk, desk chair, dresser, wardrobe unit/closet and AC.

Yes, we even supply towels and bedsheets. So that when you arrive, your apartment is ready to live in. With the full building reserved for all Irish J1 students, living on-campus comes with so much more than just a room. All residence areas include free Wi-Fi and cable, TV lounges, laundry rooms, round-the-clock security and dedicated professional staff to help you out.

We have reserved the buildings for Irish J1ers to build a community together and meet new people. We have the largest tribe of J1ers  across our buildings in New York, Chicago, Boston & San Francisco. Here you will live, make friends, explore the city, plan nights out, and attend the many events that we host each year in each city, such as boat parties, run clubs and more.

Each year we release a jobs list for every city. This is a list of the places where our previous J1ers have worked, these employers have been recommended by J1ers the year before. Follow our Instagram @J1Accom to receive these job lists.

After you have signed up and accepted a place in J1Accom, you follow the provided payment plan, which will have deadline dates for each payment, allowing you to be fully paid up before you land in the US, eliminating any worry and being able to enjoy the summer of a lifetime.

Between all of our cities we house hundreds of J1ers travelling solo, alot of them their first time in the US. When allocating rooms, we always keep solo girls together and solo guys together, so everyone is in the same boat going over. We also create group chats in each city just for solo travellers so you can get to know people before you even land in the US!

J1Accom is allocated on a lottery basis, but we would recommend signing up as soon as you can after applications open. The best way to do this is turn post and story notifications on for our Instagram - @J1Accom.

Absolutely, we always have couples staying together each year, in this case we would place a couple in a double room. (Please note each person is still to pay the full amount of the payment plan).

This varies depending on the city, the most common room types we have in each city are double rooms, triple rooms & quad rooms. You can of course contact us regarding a specific city.
