I think these are the first icons I made since April 2025. Like I said in my previous post, I'm not completely gone from the icon community.
These were made for retro_icontest. Round 35 uses an old challenge from somein30, called Icon Crossing. I also entered the original round here. Just like the first time, I'm using normal mode. I'm far too rusty by now to try anything else. I'm also not super happy with most of these, but I have to start somewhere if I want to get back into making icons. Since I was not sure I'd manage to enter, I didn't even ask tinny to randomize the pairs for me and just used the instructions posted with the challenge to do it myself ;)

I don't really feel like putting this community "officially" on hiatus, because I'm still interested in making icons and I'm still around, commenting on icon posts, voting, and making praise posts. I was already preparing excuses for why my first update of 2025 is so late, but apparently I'm still earlier than last year. When retro_icontest posted this round based on an old technique20in20 challenge, I really wanted to enter. I loved this community back in the day and always thought I made pretty good icons for it. Look at me entering monthlyinspo! The theme is Me and My Best Friend. My plan was to only use show I'm currently watching/watched recently, but I couldn't find the screencaps I wanted. So I threw in Only Murders in the Building since that will start again soon. I feel like I did manage to end up with a somewhat coherent set by removing the backgrounds that I am rather happy with.

So, first update this year. In case you're wondering what took so long: I could still feel the effects of Covid until February/March and didn't do much besides work, I booked a vacation which I then prepared for months on the weekends (yes, you can "overplan" a trip), and then came back from that vacation with Covid. Yay. At least this time the effects don't seem to last as long. For the first half of 2024, I can only share 25 icons, but that's better than nothing I guess...

In the end it was not my new job that prevented me from making more icons and updating this community in 2023, but getting Covid in October. Even though it was a mild case (or what is typically referred to as one), it reduced my energy levels. That effect is still persisting. Icons and related activities, and keeping up with DW/LJ in general, had to fall by the wayside. I hope to get back into icon making some time next year or at least keep up with what everyone else is doing. For now, here are all the unposted icons I made until September.

ICON NOMINATIONS - JOIN IN! | MY THREAD

It hasn't actually been thaaaaat long since my last entry (I definitely think it has been worse before^^) and I have been making icons (as recent as July!). However, my laptop with Photoshop is on its last legs. I did actually get a new one already, but I haven't set up anything yet. The resolution is higher though, so now icons look really small...I do still have a backlog of icons I can post here. Let's start simple with just two different sections. Stock (made for stocklove_ic) and Shadow and Bone icons made for various challenges. The majority come from the battle sietepecados organized. Happy Easter! The long weekend seems like a good time to finally post the icons from the Top Gun: Maverick battle (click the link to see all icons). Big thank you to narnialover7 for hosting this awesome battle! I ended up with 13 alts, so I didn't add them to my original submission. It seemed a bit excessive lol
Style-wise these are all over the place because I really took my time with them. I started a day after the themes were posted and submitted a couple of days before the deadline. I really just made 1-2 icons per day. The format is very similar to a 20in20, so this is how I decided to post them here.

This time I was much faster posting my best of result! Before I'm starting though, I want to mention some "admin" stuff. I'm starting a new, my first full-time, job tomorrow. While I don't want to stop iconing, I can't say how frequently I will do so in the future. You know that I sometimes forget to post on here for months. So it's possible that I'm around to make icons, but it might get even quieter here. That said, I do have a bunch of icons from the Top Gun: Maverick battle that still need to be posted, but then I finished the monthlyinspo icons and figured to space them out some ;)

No matter what theme/prompt/challenge I sat in front of this month, nothing happened. I really wanted to enter both of these though. monthlyinspo had a grab bag and when I ask for one, I'll make something for it! Round 20 is the final round of somein30, so I also had to enter that one. I only did five icons when my personal minimum is usually ten. Like I said, nothing worked for me this month. I'm not happy with the first five icons, but then I decided to go with the same approach as tinny which worked much better for me :D

Last day of the extended deadline and I'm finally posting my entry for monthlyinspo. First I wasn't sure what fandom to use. Thor: Love and Thunder seemed perfect, but initially I was too lazy to go through 80 pages of caps. I thought I'd use another fandom which had a gallery that I could sort by most viewed. That didn't happen and in the end I went through 80 pages of caps. When I had them and finally started my set, I got some neck/shoulder pain which made using Photoshop kinda difficult. My set was original 10 icons, but there were some I wanted to redo since they didn't really fit in with the rest (keeping the original background and mainly monochrome coloring), these are icons 11 and 12.
