  • THE HIGHLIGHT OF ET WLF 2026: REFORM, SCALE AND EXECUTION The defining moment of the Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2026 was Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address to business and global leaders. What struck me most was the emphasis on continuity of reform. In an increasingly uncertain world, India’s advantage is not merely its growth rate or demographic scale. It is the ability to pursue a consistent long-term direction while continuing to reform, build and execute. The Prime Minister spoke about the next generation of reforms—making it easier to do business and easier to live, while strengthening manufacturing, technology, innovation, food processing and the green and blue economies. His message on industrial policy was equally clear: incentives such as PLI must ultimately translate into real production, greater domestic value addition, exports and jobs. The metric cannot be announcements; it has to be outcomes. Technology is increasingly becoming the operating system of governance. From e-KYC and digital authentication to QR payments, tax filing and public services, India has demonstrated what digital infrastructure can achieve at population scale. But as digitalisation grows, so must safeguards against fraud and manipulation. Infrastructure was another recurring theme—not just highways and bridges, but rail safety, border connectivity, technology-led planning and the systematic removal of everyday bottlenecks. For me, the larger message was this: India’s next phase cannot be built on aspiration alone. It requires aspiration + reform + technology + manufacturing + infrastructure + relentless execution. The global environment will remain unpredictable. There will be geopolitical shocks, technological disruption and economic uncertainty. But countries that combine political stability, policy continuity and the willingness to keep reforming create something extremely valuable: confidence. Confidence for citizens. Confidence for entrepreneurs. Confidence for investors. And confidence to think at scale. A powerful address—and undoubtedly the highlight of #ETWLF2026. #TheEconomicTimes #NarendraModi #IndiaGrowth #EconomicReforms #Manufacturing #DigitalIndia #Infrastructure #Innovation #Leadership

  • STABILITY AS A STRATEGIC ASSET Just before Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the Economic Times World Leaders Forum 2026, Satyan Gajwani set the context with a thoughtful welcome around this year’s theme: Shared Futures: Secure, Intelligent, Resilient. His central thought was particularly relevant to our times. We live in a world of cascading uncertainty—wars, trade disruptions, energy insecurity, geopolitical realignments and the extraordinary speed of AI-led change. Against this backdrop, continuity and stability in leadership can themselves become strategic national assets—creating the confidence necessary to pursue reforms, invest for the long term and encourage ambition. Satyan connected this stability with some striking manifestations of India’s transformation: the digital public infrastructure built at population scale; India emerging as a major global manufacturing base, with roughly one in four mobile phones sold globally now made here; and growing investments in semiconductors and data centres. What I particularly liked was his focus on India’s new generation of entrepreneurs. From startups building rockets and advanced propulsion systems to teams working on cancer research in simulated space environments and private initiatives in fusion energy, the examples reflected something larger than individual technological achievements. They reflected a change in national aspiration. Countries progress not merely when capital or technology becomes available, but when people begin believing that problems previously considered too difficult are worth attempting. That was perhaps the most powerful bridge to the Prime Minister’s address that followed. In an uncertain world, resilience comes from strong institutions and economic foundations—but also from confidence, ambition and the willingness of a new generation to attempt the improbable. A fitting prelude to the Prime Minister’s address at #ETWLF2026. #TheEconomicTimes #IndiaGrowth #Leadership #Innovation #Startups #Technology #Resilience #DigitalIndia #Manufacturing
