Fill in the Blank (FITB) Volunteers Bring Joy and Transformation Fill in the Blank (FITB) is a youth-led initiative founded by students committed to creating positive social change through community service. On 18th July, 22 volunteers led by Ms. Samruddhi and Ms. Neethu visited the Kids Kingdom Centre at Ramaiah, spending meaningful time with children through engaging and interactive activities that brought joy, learning, and excitement. The team also transformed the centre by painting the walls, rejuvenating the play area, and creating a more vibrant and child-friendly environment. Demonstrating their generosity, they sponsored a water filter, toys, and clothing for the children. Their visit not only brightened the children's day but also enhanced the centre's learning and recreational spaces, reflecting the power of youth-led action in creating lasting impact within communities. *Empowering Young Voices Through Child Rights Awareness* *Sparsha Trust, under the **Saamuhika Shakti Initiative, successfully conducted an **online Child Rights Training and Review Session* on *25 July 2026* for *Child Rights Club members from 17 communities. The session was facilitated by **Mr. Nagasenma G. Rao*, a renowned child rights activist, who empowered children with a deeper understanding of child rights and their importance. The interactive session introduced children to the *Child Rights*, their importance, and how these rights protect children's well-being, education, safety, and participation. Through thought-provoking questions, real-life case studies regarding child rights, and open discussions, the facilitator encouraged children to think critically and confidently share their perspectives. The children actively participated throughout the session, enthusiastically answering questions and demonstrating a growing understanding of why child rights matter. Their curiosity, confidence, and eagerness to learn reflected the importance of creating spaces where children can understand and advocate for their own rights. From Opportunity to Positive Change: Strengthening Bal Vikas Samitis A small opportunity to learn can inspire meaningful change. Sarathi has been part of the Sparsha Trust family for three years now. As a Bal Vikas Samiti (BVS) member at Akkiyappa Garden Anganwadi, she thought she already knew what her role involved, until a recent training session showed her just how much more there was to learn. The training was organised by Sparsha Trust under the Saamuhika Shakti project, bringing together BVS members from 35 Anganwadi centres for a day of learning and reflection. The focus: understanding the true weight and purpose of the committee's role in early childhood development. For those unfamiliar, a Bal Vikas Samiti is more than just a committee, it's a partnership between community and government, working hand-in-hand with Anganwadi teachers to nurture children's health, nutrition, hygiene, and early learning. Every third Saturday of the month, members gather to talk through the challenges facing their centres and children, working alongside government departments to turn concerns into solutions. As the session unfolded, something shifted in the room. Members began to see their roles not as routine duties, but as a real responsibility, one with the power to shape a child's earliest years. Many left with a renewed sense of confidence, ready to speak up and act whenever their Anganwadi needed them. Sarathi summed it up best: "I was already aware of the Bal Vikas Samiti, but this training strengthened my understanding of my role in creating a child-friendly Anganwadi and building an active BVS. I have been associated with Sparsha Trust for the past three years, and every training empowers me with new knowledge and confidence. Thank you, Sparsha Trust and the Saamuhika Shakti initiative, for this opportunity." Her words capture exactly what this training set out to do, because knowledge creates awareness, awareness inspires responsibility and responsibility leads to positive change. One training. Celebrating Young Voices for a Cleaner India — "Swachhata Hi Seva" Thematic Painting Competition On March 29, 2026, children aged 7 to 12 years from Makkala Dhama and Nisarga Grama came together for a special painting competition themed "Swachhata Hi Seva" — expressing, through colour and imagination, what cleanliness and service to society mean to them organised by the Directorate of Income-tax (Intelligence & Criminal Investigation), Karnataka & Goa Region, Bengaluru. The competition provided a platform for children aged 7–12 years to creatively express their understanding of cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and community well-being through art. The initiative culminated on 8 July 2026 with a special Prize Distribution Ceremony, where the young artists were recognized for their creativity and thoughtful expression. The event was graced by Smt. Vandana Sagar, IRS, Chief Commissioner of Income-tax, who presented the prizes to the winners, along with Mr. K. M. Mahesh, IRS.  The dignitaries enthusiastically interacted with the children, appreciating their artwork and the messages conveyed through their paintings. They also expressed keen interest in learning more about Sparsha Trust's child care initiatives, Makkala Dhama and Nisarga Grama, and the positive impact these programmes continue to create in the lives of children. Every learning journey begins where need meets support. At Sparsha Trust, our Saamuhika Shakti initiative works to uplift waste-picking communities across Bengaluru and education is at the heart of that mission. Through our Community-Based Centres (CBCs) in Summanahalli, Muneshwara Nagar, Akshaya Nagar and Medi Agrahara, we're creating safe, structured learning spaces for children who might otherwise fall through the cracks of mainstream education. Operating daily from 4:00–6:00 PM, these centres offer bridge learning, experiential activities, and individualized academic support helping children build foundational skills, regain confidence, and stay connected to their education journey. The impact is best told through the children themselves: 🔹 Shravani, a Grade 6 student from Muneshwara Nagar, once struggled with basic numeracy and lacked confidence in mathematics. A year of consistent support at CBC center through bridge education and individualized attention, helped her progress from basic addition to understanding ascending order and reading time on a clock. More importantly, she now approaches math with confidence rather than fear. 🔹 Sandhya, a Grade 3 student from Medi Agrahara, initially found it difficult to read and write in Kannada, which affected her ability to keep pace in the classroom. Over six months of consistent engagement with language-based learning activities at the CBC center, she has developed strong foundational literacy skills and, just as importantly, newfound self-confidence. These stories reflect what's possible when children are given the right environment, the right resources, and continuous, individualized support. Foundational learning isn't just about academic catch-up; it's about restoring a child's belief in their own potential. 🌸 Menstrual Hygiene Day 2026 #PeriodFriendlyWorld 🌸 On the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day, Saamuhika Shakti, an initiative of Sparsha Trust, conducted a month-long awareness campaign from May 28 to June 28, reaching 280 women and adolescent girls across 17 communities, of which 4 sessions were conducted with the support of WaterAid. The sessions focused on menstrual hygiene management, puberty, reproductive health, menstrual myths and misconceptions, the safe use and disposal of sanitary products, and the importance of proper nutrition during menstruation. Through open and interactive discussions, participants were encouraged to ask questions, share their experiences, and challenge common misconceptions surrounding menstruation. By creating safe and inclusive spaces for learning and dialogue, the initiative helped build participants' confidence, promote healthy menstrual hygiene practices, reduce stigma, and empower women and girls to manage menstruation with dignity, safety, and knowledge. "The menstrual hygiene awareness session helped me understand menstruation and the importance of maintaining good hygiene during periods.
