MNRE’s Office Memorandum dated 17 August 2026 brings inverter-level generation data, secure communication, data storage and reporting into sharper focus for systems deployed under PM - Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. OEMs and manufacturers have been asked to submit written confirmation within 30 days. The bigger question is what happens to the data after it leaves the inverter. Where is it hosted? Are your monitoring and control servers located in India? Is your datalogger and M2M communication architecture aligned with the applicable requirements? What happens if your existing monitoring platform is hosted overseas? Can your current inverter hardware work with an India-hosted architecture?
