Maderna (1920 — 1973) ⟨User:Carolus [#36288]

Hello Carolus, I'll start by wishing you a happy new year. In 2024, an important composer, Bruno Madera, enters the public domain (for countries with 50+ years after death). I would like to include some of his works and offer them to the whole world. However, the page currently doesn't seem to accept scores (I think it's blocked), could you help me about this? I thank you infinitely as always.

Jacopo, Canada extended their terms for anyone who died 1972 and later last year, we still cannot accept anyone on here for works unless the work was first published before 1929 currently.

Thanks for the explanation, is Canada the only country in the world with copyright 50+? I seemed to understand that other states in the world also had the same laws and that IMSLP was migrating servers towards them, so as not to infringe copyright.

Non-Retroactively the terms were extended, meaning anyone who died 1971 and earlier that was in the public domain stays in the public domain in Canada. Were still working on getting access to one but I do not know the status right now (I am hoping sooner than later though, the longer we wait, the less files were going to be able to accept on here and we won't be able to accept the majority of Shostakovich when he would have gone PD in Canada if they did not extend there terms).

No Canada was not the only country that is Life + 50, you should look up Copyright Lengths by Country on Google, you will get your answer.

Again Roger Scheverell Coke's works are most likely under copyright everywhere since he died after 1971. The 15 Variations, Op.37 I did find a registration but no renewal, its possible the work's copyright was restored under the URAA meaning its under copyright for 95 years now in the USA since its a foreign work and unclear if it was simutaniously pubilished within 30 days of the United States. So this work is off limits.

Ok it's clear, thanks so much for the explanation. So I await with happy impatience the opening of new servers that can host these files that I am pleased to add. A little curiosity instead regarding Ferraris' composition, which I have included: I had the fortune and pleasure of meeting his son and grandson, they live (like Lando) in Sassari, a city that I frequented during my studies at the conservatory and where I found the score I added. I do not found any information on the composer, I turned to them directly and they told me the date of birth and death. They were also enthusiastic that the composition was being disseminated free and freely. We thus agreed that later I would scan all the scores in their possession to be able to bring them to light on your site, hoping to do something they and all of you would appreciate.

Jacopo you need to learn patience in adding things on here, you have a bad history of going too quickly filling out the information. I know its exciting when new composers go into the public domain (we all feel that) but its just something you need to learn on here first and formost (and anything else you do in life when paying attention to little things). And there isn't any ETA as to when we will get access to a new Life + 50 server (or guarantee its going to happen). You have been getting better but you need to be more patient with adding in the details for an upload because those details are very important to do right and correctly.

And plus for Roger Scheverell Coke you added in a "/" in between Roger and Scheverell, there is no slash between the first and middle names, which once again you need to slow down a bit.
