Reconctruction 2 ⟨User:Carolus⟩ |

I have a question concerning a reconstruction too.
The oboe quartet ReiF 7.44 was probably composed when Fiala was still mainly active as an oboist, most likely before the completion of the string quartet ReiF 4.70 *, which was printed in Vienna by Artaria in 1785. Since the two works are almost alike, the string quartet can be considered an arrangement of the oboe quartet. The Oboe Quartet is not entirely preserved, missing ca. 2/3 of the cello part. Nevertheless, there is a new edition of this quartet in which this missing part has been reconstructed. This was published by Doblinger in 2015, the editor and arranger is Peter Wuttke. It is available here**, for example. Obviously Peter Wuttke was not aware of the connection with the string quartet, his reconstruction makes no reference to it. With the help of the string quartet, I have now created another cello part for the oboe quartet, supplementing the missing measures, which certainly comes closer to the original. It can be used together with the edition at Doblinger to play the quartet. The whole edition cannot be uploaded here by copyright reasons (published 2015). I only used the original measures of cello part, but nothing of Wuttkes reconstruction. I want to create a workpage, only for my new reconstruction. Is this o.K.?

If the reconstruction was done fully by you of the Artaria Edition, not using the 2015 edition as your basis, that is OK from a copyright perspective. Only the 2015 edition cannot be uploaded here.

| You are aware, that the workpage would only contain the cello part, nothing else, beside a hint where one can buy the other parts?

| So if the other parts of the Oboe Quartet were already preserved but the cello part is the one that is in an incomplete state and you did your own reconstruction of the Cello Part, the other parts are fair game as well.

| I have the other parts only by the edition of Peter Wuttke, and the original measures of the cello part too. Wuttke makes clear in his edition, which augmentations (like slurs or dynamics) are added by him, so it is easy to see what is the content of the manuscript (in Prag). This manuscript is public domain, of course, but not online available. I want to be fair and will only upload my own reconstruction of the cello part. Everybody who wants to play the quartet can buy the Doblinger edition and - if he (or she) wants - take my reconstruction for the cello part, which is clearly more close to the original as Wuttkes reconctruction.

| Notenschreiber, you can use that as your source, but if Wuttke indicated which additions he made to the parts, you can remove those in making new typesetted parts without those additions (as long as your careful) and we can say you made your own edition based off of the manuscript parts still with using the 2015 parts as a reference. Since those parts are complete and not reconstructed, it is fair game to make a new typeset because the underlying work is in the public domain.

| Thanks for your advice, but I do not want to upload the other parts for personal reasons.
