Library related things, Part 32! ⟨User:Carolus⟩ |

Hey Carl, please keep an eye on this user here, he now has a number of librettists under copyright on several workpages he made and submitted under that we have to block due to first off not responding to any of my posts or anyone else, plus now needing letters of permission from. So you might have to bug him if he doesn't respond with letters of permission after a period of time.

Carl I have fully uploaded Volume 8.2 to BWV 182, I added the Weimar and Leipzig Version header and added the Manuscripts that were on Bach Digital to the page. Can you check to see which version the BGA edition belongs to, this one I was not sure on.

| Hey Carl I need some help with some of Messerman's uploads in terms of organization (you might want to take a look at some of things he is adding in his User contributions). I kind of am confused by his titling on his files and how he is going about uploading these Sonatas, specifically this collection for example. If you look in the files, you will note he is using "Sonata 1", "Sonata 2", etc. and these do not (I don't think) line up with the sonatas at all as a whole for each sonata and I think some of these could be in the wrong place and/or could also be just a movement of a Sonata for each one, which Messerman is failing to provide that info sometimes, etc.
So I wonder if you can talk to him about this because he doesn't like talking to me when I just want to get some clarification on how to organize these files of his... He just says I should just delete his files if I don't like how its organized or something, when these are his files and we have our own rules we have to abide by for organizing files on here, and especially he should spend time properly titling his files to fit the work pages, especially existing ones. I don't want to delete the files since I don't have any real reason to if he used the right tool for uploading and the composers are in the public domain here, only the organization here is a real problem I am seeing.
Like his latest one he uploaded on the example page I gave here, he says this is "Sonata V" Opus 2, but he uploaded this on the Op.1 page of this composer?? And one piece in the file also has Opus 4??? I know he is kind of annoyed by our library rules, but rules are rules and he needs to be more prepped for uploading files on here, not have the files in a sloppy manner.

| Here is another very questionable upload workpage upload of his, he is calling his upload "Sonata VI" when No.6 is in D major when his upload is in D minor and the music doesn't even match the original setting files we have!
There is more of his uploads he did recently that probably doesn't match the piece on the workpage but once again as I stated above the pieces in his files are blatantly not lining up with the work pages themselves. Since his archive is so massive it seems, what should we do about any of this? He left in annoyance over our organization rules for a while last year, then decided to come back to continue his uploads...

| Another example: https://imslp.org/wiki/Sonatina_in_F_major_(Graupner,_Christoph)#IMSLP836712 GWV 809 is one of the 20 dances for cembalo, which is alreadyup here. There is no sonatina for 2 violins by Graupner.

| Hey Carl do you have any insights on this discussion here regarding the revised version of the full score for Stravinsky's Pulcinella and also if Leonide Massine is considered also the librettist of the work, or just a choreographer? The K Catelog doesn't really say that for Massine as the librettist (but Wikipedia says he is as well). And for the full score all that seemed to have been changed from the original version to the 1965 version is metronome markings and nothing else got changed and there is a new copyright claim that was made in 1966 as well that was submitted to the office, which I think might be a bogus copyright claim since metronome markings changes doesn't add a new copyright.

| There is still the Veracini uploads by M.Kowalski in the CR list on the USA Tag filter if you wouldn't mind looking at that Dbmiller retagged into believing these have a valid copyright claim that Kalmus removed the notice illegally when they reprinted them:
- 12 Sonate accademiche, Op.2 (Veracini, Francesco Maria)
- Aria Schiavona (Veracini, Francesco Maria)

| I believe it had to do with failure to renew the copyright rather than a failure to publish with a notice. Ettore Bonelli (who ran Zanibon) didn't renew a single copyright in the USA from my brief search and Kalmus reprinted lots of Zanibon issues over the years. It is an original compilation however and would likely hold up in Canada so I'm fine with getting rid of the pasticcio from Op.2 at least. Ditto for the other piece. These are really kind of bowdlerized 'editions' of the originals to boot. No NIEs have been filed for either however so they are possibly free in the USA. Ironically Bonelli and Margola's heavy hand would likely give them some protection in Canada and the EU. If Zanibon or the heirs of Bonelli and Margola wanted to file an NIE they could do so any time and we'd have to take it down in any case. I don't consider either of these worth the bother.

| Yeah that would make sense for Op.2 since its a new setting for string orchestra and the movements as its own edition (from the collection of 12 sonatas) count as being original in this case.

| Hey Carl regarding the old USA Flag uploads from the old USA system you used ages ago, Dbmiller created this list, which shows all the uploads on the site with the USA Flag on them, before I don't believe we had such a list, so you can use this to go back and reupload the files with the streamlined Fileblocks we have now.
