For what it's worth, I'm officially transitioning fully away from LJ in response to the new TOS and the governing jurisdiction/servers moving to Russia. I do not trust the Russian government with pretty much anything, and I can guarantee the new TOS will be used to stifle political discourse at the very least. I will continue to only post once in a blue moon (if that), and move all of my journal reading over here.

Hopefully the Orange one and his cronies won't be able to gut freedom of speech and political activism here...

I was checking out a link on my flist for written?kitten!, so I had to write at least a drabble to see what popped up :) I'm posting it as I actually liked the way it came out.

Not wild about either opening act, and the venue isn't one I care for. I expect I'll be able to ignore that as soon as MCR comes on :)

Nightmares

I almost never have nightmares, at least not that I remember. Before last night, I'd had two, both more than 15 years ago.

Stress is an evil, evil thing *sigh*

An old friend got back in touch today - it was wonderful to hear from her again. We talked for more than an hour and still aren't caught up :)

Note to self - don't let it go that long again!

Hmm, opening post. I'm terrible at this stuff. Finally starting to setup my official DW space, just in case LJ goes nuts (more nuts, anyway). Mostly just copying over from my openID and LJ accounts for now.

So, Hi? (I lurk a lot.)

To the best of my recollection, songs played were (but not necessarily in this order)
Songs of the Century / 21st Century Breakdown (opener)
Know Your Enemy
Before the Lobotomy
Christian's Inferno
East Jesus Nowhere
The Static Age
21 Guns
American Eulogy (both parts)
Basket Case
American Idiot
Jesus of Suburbia (all parts!)
Holiday
Boulevard of Broken Dreams
St. Jimmy
Geek Stink Breath
Welcome to Paradise
Longview (maybe? I think?)
King for a Day
Minority
Good Riddence (show closer :)

I think there were a couple of other songs that I'm missing, but I can't think 'cuz I'm finally tired and must sleep now :)

ETA (Saturday afternoon) And!  A medley of Shout/Stand By Me/Something else? where they were playing while lying down on the stage, rolling around on the floor, getting tons of audience call backs, etc.

ETA2: Full set list from someone who kept better track than I did ;)  At comment 84 here

The first show of Green Day's new tour was absolutely fucking fantastic.  The opening act, The Bravery, were pretty much just meh, okay but not spectacular (not sure if it was the band or their sound guy, but their mix was pretty bad, I could barely hear the singer and the drums were the only instrument that sounded clear.  The Key Arena may not have the best music acoustics, but Green Day managed to deal with that just fine.)  However, from the first step of the drunken pink rabbit furry (I kid you not, drunk pink rabbit humping the stage and handing Security beer), Green Day rocked.  They played fantastically, Billie Joe totally owned the audience, the mix of new and old music was great, they pyrotechnics were killer (and no one got hurt) the stage layout worked really well, and they played for just over 2 hours, with only a 5 minute break.  Over the course of the night they pulled four people from the audience up on stage (I think, maybe 5?).  The first one was a kid, maybe 10 or 12? who was scared out of his mind but Billie Joe managed to get him to start some arm waving :)  The second was when they were playing an older song (I've heard it, but I don't know the title) and the first person Billie Joe pulled up to sing lyrics was a girl, who did okay, but the second was a guy.  As soon as he got on stage, he kissed Billie Joe, for nearly 10 seconds (I was too far away to tell if there was tongue :b) and Billie Joe pretty much let him LOL.  The last person he pulled up though, towards the end fo the show, was GREAT!  He was talking to the audience (Green Day is now officially from Seattle, BJA said so!) and someone from California got booed, but mentioned that he played guitar.  BJA asked him if he knew how to play Jesus of Suburbia, and he said he did.  BJA was all "really?  you swear? you can really play it?" and finally pulled this guy up (we'll call him Sean.  that's what it sounded like he said, but I didn't quite catch it so that may be wrong.) and gave him his guitar.  AND HE PLAYED JESUS OF SUBURBIA, WELL!!  Afterwards, BJA said something about how that had been fucking amazing, and that someone should do something really nice for the Sean guy, paused, and then told Tré to come suck his cock.  And then Tré CAME OUT FROM BEHIND THE DRUMS AND DRAGGED THE SEAN GUY AWAY WHILE SKIPPING - it was hilareous :)

Completely fucking awesome show.  If you even halfway like Green Day and you get the oportunity to go see them live - take it!  It was the best concert I've ever been to.

Amazon Rank

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not planning to buy from Amazon until they stop with the idiocy.  *grrrr*

When you see this, post a quote from Stargate Atlantis in your journal.

It snowed today, all day, and will apparently continue snowing tonight and into tomorrow.  8" so far at my house - some areas have more than that.  The only upside is that it will probably all melt off by Monday :/

This is just not right.

I've been reading about the recent idiocy of LJ.  I guess I won't be getting a paid account.  *sigh*  I thought 6 icons would be fine, but now I want moooore.  They're fun!  But I'm not willing to go sponsored either, so.

*frowns at the LJ ptb*

Well.  Opening post.  This is a bit scary.  As my profile says, I'm a long-time lurker (I started out with The Sentinel and Senad).  I love slash and gen, and occasionally het. My goal with this journal is to push myself out of my nice safe lurkerdom.  We'll see how well that works :b

Hmm.  I wonder why the posting interface doesn't use my journal's color scheme?
