Last time I made a blog post was when I left Death Battle after 4 years of working for them as a pixel artist.
I mentioned building a portfolio and moving onto bigger things.
Now I'm back after another 4 years of being a pixel artist for various other projects including the upcoming Toxic Crusaders game. I achieved what I set out to do and have come out the other side feeling good about my work.
But it required that I neglect
- My health
- My marriage
- My house
Not to the point where I've lost any of those things, but I'm severely overweight, my wife had to be very patient when I've been tight on deadlines and I still have boxes of junk stacked around the house that needed time to sort out.
But now I've put my foot down, at the completion of my most recent contract, I'm no longer taking on freelance work.
Mostly to make up for the above problems, but also because I'd like to start using my skills to create my own stuff.
These last couple of years I've devoted most of my time on my The Cosmic Cruise OC project. The original, and current, intent is for it to be a minigame project. This is something I want to develop and have as 100% my own.

Hopefully once my life stuff is more stable I will finally be able to work on bigger projects for myself.
I'm insanely thankful for the opportunities I've had while working as a freelance artist. The downfalls are my own responsibility and I would never blame any of the teams I've worked with for that. It's been a great experience.
I look forward to what comes of this new era for me.
Newgrounds is still the best place on the internet to share art, animation and games.
