How perfectly fitting,
Betty always knew duty
No resting and sitting,
On laurels she’d earned
A fulfilling career,
Many friendships, one love,
Husband Allen Ludden,
Whose passing from cancer
Came on much too sudden.
Of the Mary Tyler Moore gang
She went the last,
We all feel a pang,
Oh that talented cast!
As happy home-maker (and wrecker)
Sue Ann Niven,
A more perfect role for her’s rarely been given.
Later when casting each Golden Girl,
They thought she’d play Blanche,
But she gave Rose a whirl.
No need to be typecast,
How dull to repeat,
So she played naive, not “fast”
And incredibly sweet.
Her life’s work for animals very well known,
I bet friends on the rainbow bridge,
welcome her home.
