The change of water levels inside the reservoir was both a functional process and an element that continuously transformed the interior space. The reuse of this project begins with a contemporary reinterpretation of that original operating principle — the change of water level. Tide step is concept of this project drawn from reservoir's original function. Steps disappear as water rises, steps uncover as water sinks. The circulation routes and exhibition spaces that shift continuously between these states together offer a new exhibition experience that embodies the behavior of water level change.

Over the past 250 years, the U.S. has been home to many iconic buildings and landmarks that speak to the nation's history and culture. But weakened preservation protections and a fixation on newer building design gimmicks have put much of this existing building stock in a vulnerable position, threatening the longevity of historic churches, civic buildings, movie theaters, traditional downtown districts, and other beloved tokens that make up classic American towns. Odisha's architectural identity has long been defined by its monumental temples. Belgadia Palace, a Georgian-influenced residence commissioned in the eighteenth century by a Maharani intent on addressing colonial powers as equals, tells a different story. Today, Princess Akshita Bhanj Deo is using hospitality not to monetize the building, but to sustain it and through it, to reintroduce visitors to a region whose architectural richness extends far beyond the monuments that have come to represent it.
