How it works

Capture in a second. See it again at the right time.

Kippy is a capture app for macOS 14 and later. A small tab on the right edge of your screen and a few shortcuts catch a typed note, a voice note, a screenshot or a meeting without leaving the app you’re in. Kippy works out whether each is a task, a reminder or an event, and brings it back when it’s due. Everything stays on your Mac.

  1. Capture

A tiny panel opens over any app. Type, paste a link, hold ⌃⌥K and talk, or press ⌃⌥4 to Snap the screen.

  2. Kippy sorts it

“Call Mira tomorrow at 10” becomes an event. “Buy milk” becomes a task. It remembers the app and site you were in.

  3. It comes back

Notes wait as tabs on the right edge, pop up in the app they belong to, and return right when a reminder is due.

Features

A small Mac app that remembers the right things.

Notes that show up in the right app

Pin a note to Slack, Figma or any website, and it pops up when you switch there. Jot down why you opened a tab, and the note comes back when you return to that page. Every site’s notes, gathered in one place.

Meetings that turn into tasks

Record, transcribe and bookmark moments while you talk. Every action item becomes a task that links back to the exact second.

Snap: screenshot, draw, done NEW

Press ⌃⌥4 and drag. Save it right away, or mark it up like a whiteboard: arrows, boxes, diamonds, text, highlights and blur. Move, resize and rotate anything, then add a caption by voice. It lands on your edge, ready to share to Slack.

Cards for the people you love NEW

Turn any note into a card worth sending. A birthday wish, a packing list for the kids, grandma’s recipe. Pick sticky, postcard, polaroid, lined or kraft, then make it yours: add emoji, your own photos and stickers, washi tape and extra notes. Drag, resize and rotate anything, sign it, and share it by Messages, Mail or AirDrop.

  • 6 styles
  • Emoji & stickers
  • Your photos
  • Washi tape
  • Square, story or wallpaper
  • ⌃⌥C
  • Voice notes: hold to talk

Hold ⌃⌥K, speak, let go. Your words become a note, task, reminder or event.

  • Works with Calendar

Events you capture go straight into Apple Calendar, after you confirm.

  • Turn into anything

From the Type menu: to-do list, task, reminder, event, idea, bookmark or bug.

  • Repeats

Every day, every 2 weeks, every year — or type your own, like “every tue and thu”.

  • Linked notes

Type [[ to link notes together. Every note shows what links back to it.

  • Share anywhere

Send a Snap to Slack, or share by Messages, Mail and AirDrop.

  • Save where you stopped

Write down what’s done, blocked and next. It greets you when you return.

  • Daily Brief

Today’s events and tasks, what’s overdue, and notes coming back, on one page. Kippy can read it aloud.

  • Snooze and reminders

Hide a note until later. It comes back to the edge with a gentle nudge.

  • Search everything

⌃⌥F finds notes, meeting transcripts and files in an instant, from any app.

  • Slack-style formatting

Type *bold*, _italic_, - lists and [] checkboxes as you already do.

  • Make it yours

50+ note colours, custom colours, and six fonts from handwritten to mono.

Privacy

Your thoughts stay on your Mac.

Kippy doesn’t have a server to send your notes to. Voice is transcribed on your Mac, notes are saved on your Mac, and it all works offline.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

When can I get Kippy?
Very soon. Join the waitlist at the top of this page and we’ll email you once, the day Kippy is out. Early birds pay $9.99 for the first 30 days after launch.
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay once and Kippy is yours. All 1.x updates are included for free.
How long does the early bird price last?
For 30 days from launch. After that the price goes to $14.99. Early bird buyers get exactly the same app and updates.
Can I send a card to someone who doesn’t have Kippy?
Yes. A card is a normal image with your emoji, photos and doodles baked in, so anyone can open it in Messages, WhatsApp or Mail, or print it. The “made with Kippy” mark is optional.
Which Macs does it run on?
Any Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Apple silicon (M1 and newer) is recommended for the fastest voice transcription; Intel Macs work too.
Do my notes or recordings get uploaded anywhere?
No. Notes, voice and meeting transcripts are processed and stored on your Mac. Kippy works fully offline and has no account or cloud sync.
Which languages can I speak?
English for now, for both voice capture and read-aloud. More languages are on the way, and they’ll arrive as a free update. You can still type notes in any language.
Does it add events to my calendar?
Yes, if you allow it. Kippy uses the macOS Calendar, so events show up in Apple Calendar and anything synced to it, like Google or Outlook calendars. It always asks before adding anything.
Can I get my notes out?
Anytime. Every note can be exported as a plain Markdown file, and screenshots and attachments are regular files on your Mac.
How many Macs can I use it on?
One license works on up to 3 Macs, for example your laptop, desktop and work Mac. Moved to a new Mac? Remove the old one in Kippy › Settings › License & updates and the spot frees up right away.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every feature is free for 7 days of use, with no card or account. If you don’t buy, Kippy locks, and you can still export all your notes.
