Rose Bowl!!

The University of Wisconsin Badgers football team (a.k.a., "badass honey badgers") is headed for the 2012 Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, following last night's grueling 42-39 win over (yuk...ptouie!) Michigan State in the inaugural Big 10 Championship game. It's the second year in a row the Badgers have represented the Big 10 in the Rose Bowl. The Badgers will play PAC-12 winner Oregon on January 2. Go Badgers!

We anxiously await the bowl assignment (Sugar?) for the University of Michigan Wolverines. Go Blue!

UPDATE: It's the Sugar Bowl (vs. Virginia Tech) for Michigan!

The Incredibly Shrinking Badgers

Some of the Hackwhackers family are happy and some are sad with the results of yesterday's game between Wisconsin and Michigan. Final score: Michigan 27, Wisconsin 25. A very sloppy game ended with Michigan showing a lot more desire than the flat Badgers, whose offense was pathetic in the second half. (Note to self: control anger, be happy that other members of your family are rejoicing)

Ohio State and Penn State are coming up in Madison, so the Badgers will need spinal implants to prevail.

New Era at Michigan

We take a break for a moment in our tireless search for the tawdry, the hypocritical and the reactionary, to offer congratulations to the University of Michigan and its new head football coach -- Rich Rodriguez. Rodriguez, late of West Virginia University, is a highly-regarded coach who, it is hoped by Wolverine fans, will inject new energy into the storied program. (Condolences in advance to my brother Hackwhacker and his children for the many losses Wisconsin will sustain over the course of Rodriguez' tenure!)

YIKES!! (Or, I Guess There's No "D" in "Michigan")

34-32. Appalachian State. First I-AA team to beat a ranked I-A team in NCAA football history. In NCAA history! Jesus H. Christ, what's wrong at Michigan? Where do we sign the "Lloyd Carr must go" petition? Appalachian State. What the hell are they going to do when they play... Indiana, for God's sake? Excuse this Hackwhacker while he goes to the vomitorium.

UPDATE: On the other hand, Wisconsin beat Washington State 42 - 21. Yabba dabba doo!
UP-UPDATE: And Notre Dame got its golden ass flayed by Ga. Tech. Ring dang doo!
