How to Restore IMEI of any MT65xx Smartphones using MTK Droid Root and Tools

In this tutorial you will learn to restore your IMEI in case that you have lost it when flashing your STOCK ROM or CUSTOM ROM.
Required:

Root Access on your Phone
MTK Droid Root and Tools v2.4.8 [Download here]
Your IMEI [you can get this at the back of your phone it is a 15 Digits Number]
Android ADB Driver – Depends on what phone you are using , but for most cases this Universal Driver Works fine [Download Here]

Open the self-extracting archive of the MTK Droid ROOT and Tools and open the MTKdroidTools.exe be sure to run it as an Administrator, plug in your phone and be sure you have already root your phone and have installed the Driver for your phone, if not do that first before proceeding on the next step.
Once you have open the MTK Droid Root and Tools it must detect the information of your Device similar with the Image below

Once it has detected your phone information you will notice Your IMEI will show there but if you have error it will not show there and we will use this tool to restore it.
Next you need to click the ROOT button so that it will temporary have Root shell access on your phone in order for it to make the script work on the background.

it will prompt this window to gain root shell access

and then once you have the root shell access click the IMEI/NVRAM button and this window will show
now all you need to do is put your 15 Digits IMEI Number that you can get at the back of your phone inside not the back cover if you have 2 IMEI you need to put that.
also in case you want to backup your IMEI you do it also here after restoring it, Usually you do this first before you flash any custom roms just to be safe always
and then Press the REPLACE IMEI button and it will prompt you this window that it will replace your existing one

after that just reboot your phone and your IMEI is back after the reboot , and be sure to backup your IMEI now before doing anything else

Nestle would never have even imagined that some day billions of Android users would start chanting the name of one of its confectionary products. I never seen such a brilliant way of advertising any product. Everybody with an Android phone or tablet is looking to get KitKat. While Nexus users have already been enjoying the new flavor of Android, or about to receive it anytime soon, there are billions others who are still looking toward their device OEMs and carriers to have at least the lower versions of the platform like Android 4.2 and 4.3.
Owning a Google Nexus device is a kind of guarantee that you would be one of the first to receive the latest version of Android, but if you got a phone/tablet from manufacturers like Samsung, LG, HTC, Sony, etc., you might have no choice but to wait perpetually. Even if you get a new (?) update, it’s got to be an old thing by the time it reaches you. Samsung’s treatment with its popular phones like the Galaxy S3 and Note 2 is a very relevant example of how manufacturers shirk from sending software updates to their users.
Yesterday we published an article on installing Android 4.4 KitKat based custom ROMs on the Galaxy Note 2 and many of its variants. Extending our KitKat treat, we have now come with a collection of Android 4.4 custom ROMs for the Samsung Galaxy S3. If you own any of the following variants of the device, you can update your phone with the newest sensation of Android:

Warning:

The procedure described below is not meant for perfect noobs as it is considered risky. Follow all instructions carefully if you do not wish to caught into a compromising situation. Prerequisites:

A rooted Samsung Galaxy S3. If you have not rooted your phone yet, please take some time and root it using our easy rooting tutorial.
The KitKat ROMs we are going to talk about are custom ROMs and therefore they require the presence of a custom recovery like ClockworkMod or TWRP on your device. Not only this, you must have the latest version of the recovery you use. You can download ROM Manager (CWM) or Goo Manager (TWRP) to install the latest version.

Since Goo Manager is working properly these days, we recommend that you install CWM version 6.0.4.3 on your device. If you know how to install recovery image file using ADB command, download the latest CWM recovery .img file from here and install it. 6.0.4.3

About the ROMs:

Please note that most of the ROMs that we have mentioned below are based on CM 11 and therefore have all the bugs of their parent. Being in early stage of development, it is obvious that you might encounter a few bugs in performance. Please install the appropriate ROM on your phone, test them and if you find them stable enough for you,use them. We hope that with new updates, all these ROMs will become more mature and stable.

How to Install:

Important: Do not forget to backup your phone’s EFS/IMEI before. Read this article for detailed tutorial.
Charge your phone.
Copy the downloaded Android 4.4 ROM file and the latest Gapps package from above and copy them to your phone.
Also copy the SuperSU zip file to the device.
Boot your Galaxy in recovery mode. Here is how to do it: hold down the Volume Up+Home+Power buttons together for 4-6 seconds till the screen turns up and you see the recovery screen. Alternatively,you can enter recovery mode using these apps.
If you are using CWM, use the volume keys to scroll up/down and the power button to select files and options. TWRP users can simply touch the corresponding buttons to get a job done.
Important: Before doing anything, do not forget to backup your current ROM using “backup and restore”option (in CWM) or “Backup” option (in TWRP) and check all items to backup.
CWM Users: Go back to main menu in recovery and select “wipe data / factory reset> yes”. Then go to“mounts and storage” and wipe data and system.
TWRP Users: Just tap on “Wipe” button and select Data, System and Cache.
Now go back again and choose “install zip from sdcard> choose zip from sd card” option, select the ROM file in zip and choose “yes” when asked. If you have TWRP, use “Install” button, select the ROM and swipe the slider to confirm installation.
When the ROM is installed, install the Gapps zip package just like you flashed the ROM in Step 11.
Then install the ”UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.69.zip” file the same way.
Finally, select the reboot system option.

The first boot will takes longer than usual so wait patiently till the device boots up and you see the welcome screen. Go through the startup setup like data connection, Gmail, Google Wallet, etc. In case you have any doubts or question, feel free to share your thoughts. Thanks!

How to Root the Samsung Galaxy S III working guide

Step 1: Backup

Since you’ve likely had your Galaxy S III for a while now, there’s a decent chance that you’ve got assorted Instagram photos/a well-curated porn collection you want to preserve for posterity. That’s all fine — we’re going to use Carbon Backup to save all your ~~dirty sexts~~ precious memories.
- Download Carbon Backup to your Android device.
- While that’s happening, download the desktop client from here
- Connect the phone to the computer, and help them perform the special Carbon mating ritual that will enable Carbon backup — it’ll hold your hand throughout the whole procedure, don’t worry.

- Select all apps, and create a backup using Carbon. You can either back up to the cloud (but you’ll need the paid-for Carbon Premium to restore from the cloud), or create a backup to an SD card or your computer.

Step 2: Let’s Get Rooty

Download the Galaxy S3 Root Toolkit from here. Remember a silent prayer of thanks to mskip, the dev behind it.
- Follow the instructions, installing the Root Toolkit to a root file on your PC.
- Run the program (no need to ask to check for an update). Select your model when prompted — you can find it in Settings–>About device–>Model number (and Android version right underneath).

- Scenes closely resembling The Matrix will play out while the Root ToolKit downloads all the necessary stuff. Eventually, you’ll get to the screen seen above. Unplug your device, and select number one (and number one again, when it asks you to confirm).
- The drivers will now install (it’ll take a moment) — you’ll have to click through a couple of pages on a normal Windows installer. When you get the “Connect your device via the usb cable…etc” message, do what it says and connect it.
- Go back to the main menu. You want option 2 (root options), and then option 3 (ALLINONE). You want to flash option one (CWRecovery) and then option 2 for superuser.
- Check that you’ve got USB debugging enabled (you should do). Type yes to start rooting.

- Something called ‘Odin’ will open. Follow the instructions on-screen in the Root Toolkit, which will load the recovery image. Your phone will reboot, and you can close Odin.
- The Toolkit will do a few more things, and then congrats, you’re rooted!

Step 3: Flash CM and Rid the World of TouchWiz

Samsung phones come pre-loaded with TouchWiz, which, if Reddit is to be believed, is “worse than Hitler”. I wouldn’t quite go that far, but the normal Android interface is certainly better. To get that, we’re going to install one of the most popular custom ROMs, CyanogenMod.
- On your phone, download ROM Manager from the Play Store.
- Open it, grant root access, and it the very top option, Recovery Setup. Follow the instructions to flash ClockworkMod Recovery.
- Download the CyanogenMod version that we want from here. Copy the .zip onto your device, preferably somewhere you’ll remember like download.

- Go into the ROM Manager, and select “Install ROM from SD Card”. Select the CM 10.1 file that you copied over to your device earlier, tick Backup Existing ROM and Wipe Data and Cache, and then hit reboot and install.
- Once it’s done, you should see the CyanogenMod boot screen.

Step 4: Restoring BackUps

- Custom ROMs like CyanogenMod don’t come with Google Apps like Play Store and GMail by default, so we have to re-download them. You can download the actual apps from here.
- While it’s downloading, you need to enable USB debugging again. Go to “Settings –> About –> Build number”, and tap “build number” about ten times, until you get a little message saying “you’re now a developer”. Head back into settings, go to “Developer Mode”, and turn on USB debugging.

- Once you have the download, copy the .zip onto your SIII. Power down your device, and boot it up into the bootloader (hold down power, home and volume up buttons at the same time). Select “Recovery”; then, install zip from SD card. Navigate to the Google apps zip you just copied over, and hit go. Once the install is complete, reboot.
- Once you’ve got past the initial setup, download Carbon backup from the Play Store again, set it up (again), and restore from your backup.

Step 5: Pimp That Galaxy

Congratulations! You’re now running a custom build of Android, so you’ve got far more options at your disposal now. Some changes to be made will be a matter of personal taste (like the design of your homescreen); others are more technical tweaks, which are the ones we’re going to cover here.

- You’ve now got access to a new menu, right down the bottom of settings: “Performance”. There’s one change I would recommend you make to get better performance out of your Galaxy SIII. Go into “Performance–>Memory management”, and tick the “allow purging of assets” box. This will effectively increase the amount of memory available, making hardcore multitasking a lot easier.

- Go to “Settings–>System–>Notification drawer”, and enable the Power widget. This’ll give you all sorts of handy toggles (customisable in the “Widget Buttons” menu) in the notification drawer. In the same System menu, there’s also a “Status bar” menu, which gives you the option to change the battery icon to a percentage.
- Download Tasker from the Play Store. Tasker’s a wonderfully neat app that you can program to do just about anything. For some neat ideas and walk-throughs, have a look at this thread on XDA forums, which explains everything pretty well. There are even more ideas on this Lifehacker article.
- Set up profiles. Something that’s missing from pretty much every mobile OS nowadays (but was a staple back in the days of Symbian), profiles are basically presets of a bunch of settings, like ring volume, Wi-Fi on/off, etc. I’ve got one for work, one for home and one for silent, for example. You can quick-change profiles by holding down the power button.
- Download Apex launcher and get to work on your home screen. The stock Android screen is just, well, boring. Apex launcher (or the equally good Nova) provide endless options for customising your homescreen. If you need inspiration, check out Mycolourscreen.
- Download Light Manager to manage the notification LED. My advice is to set the LED to colours that match the app (so blue for Facebook, red for Gmail etc), but it’s your choice.
- AdFree works like an ad-blocking extension in a browser. Simples.
Those are my standard recommendations — but of course, there’s basically limitless possibilities for what you can do with your device now. Not to mention, you should also see better battery life, more frequent updates and a less of that TouchWiz hell.

Pre Upgrade Follow Up Requirements
Essentially before preceding the firmware upgrade, you should go with the following pre upgrade instructions required on your device.

Make sure your device is Samsung Galaxy Captivate i897 and no other variant of Galaxy phone.
Make sure you have charged your phone to up to 40 % although full 100 % charging is good and highly recommended.
Users should enable USB debugging option by going through the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Make sure it’s ticked.
Since this is a custom firmware, this requires root access to your smart phone and this is why rooting is required. So root your device on the existing firmware.
During the process of the firmware update the data present on your smart phone might be lost. So its advised that you take the back up of everything present on your smart phone by using the following help guide -

Galaxy Captivate Update Procedure to JellyBean 4.1 Slim ROM
Follow the instructions below to apply the updates pretty easily on your Captivate device -

First you need to download the latest JellyBean 4.1.1 firmware update package and then connect your device to the PC using the USB cable. Now move the downloaded file to the root of your SD card or the internal memory.
Now disconnect your device and turn off your phone to off state so that you can enter it recovery mode.
One can easily enter Samsung Galaxy Captivate in recovery mode by pressing the volume up key, OK button and the power button.
Once you are in the recovery mode, you need to select the option of “Wipe data/factory reset”, “Wipe Cache partition” to clear all the cache present.
Select “install zip from sd card” > “choose zip from sd card” after which it will take around 10 minutes to apply these updates.

First, the Driver must be installed on the machine before then.

1-6 commands can be used with the open marriage Debug Mode only.

7-9 can be used with the machine that faithful into Fastboot Mode only.

9.Exit Fastboot Mode to reboot your PC or exit FastBoot.
