One project. Layout, furniture and finishes.

Layout · Furnish · Finishes

Work out the layout. Find the fit. Choose the look.

Three activities in one project. Move between them whenever you like: change a wall after the sofa is in, or try another floor after the room is finished.

The Gridsnap editor in the Layout activity: the toolbox lists Select, Move exactly, Check distance, Wall, Door, Window, Room / area, Dimension and Text, and the plan shows the entrance route from front door D-03 through the 6.5 m² entry hall and door D-01 into the 46.5 m² living, kitchen and dining room beside the 14.3 m² Bedroom 3, with a dimension chain of 1800, 1240, 1000, 2710 and 2000 mm
Layout

Make the space work.

Draw walls to exact sizes, place doors and windows, and see how the rooms connect. Every room measures its own floor area as you draw, and the plan is a 3D model from the first wall, so you can review it as you develop it.

Explore layout tools →
The Gridsnap editor in the Furnish activity: the L-shaped sofa is selected, a 1250 mm dimension runs from the sofa front to the coffee table, and the inspector shows the sofa 2600 mm wide, 900 mm deep and 780 mm high
Furnish

Find out what fits.

Set furniture to the dimensions you need, move it into position, and measure the space around it. Beds, sofas and kitchen units snap against the walls they belong on. Try the arrangement in plan and 3D before you commit to it.

Explore furnishing →
The Gridsnap editor in the Finishes activity: in the Textured plan the living room face of the wall to the entry hall is selected, and the inspector reads Accent: Paint · Sage, applying to this wall only, with colour swatches, a sage wall preview of 3.12 by 2.70 m and a button to go back to the room’s Light plaster
Finishes

See the choices together.

Try a different floor, give one wall an accent, and choose finishes for furniture parts such as a sofa’s upholstery or a kitchen’s fronts. See the room come together in a textured plan and in 3D.

Explore finishes →

All three are free. Measuring a gap tells you its size, not whether it is comfortable: the clearances guide has the numbers to compare against.

Ways to start

Start with what you already have.

Every route ends in the same editable drawing, so the three activities and every export work however you began.

Advanced · Massing authoring Pro

Shape the building first

Try footprints, storeys and setbacks as simple volumes, then create an ordinary drawing from the shape you choose.

Share

Make the idea clear to someone else.

The plan is not a picture: it knows its walls, rooms and finishes. So the same project prints to scale for a builder and shows its materials for everyone else.

Export a PDF at 1:50, 1:100 or 1:200 that a builder can measure with a scale ruler, in the Technical style or Textured with your finishes and an optional finish legend. Hand an architect a layered DWG or DXF, keep a PNG, or render a furnished storey from straight above for a client. A share link opens the plan read-only in 2D, 3D and elevations in any browser, with no account. Exports are free and carry no watermark.

Before it goes out, the plan check marks mechanical mistakes on the drawing, such as furniture standing in a doorway, free on every plan.

FAQ

Questions before you start

More detail on every tool is on the features page, step-by-step instructions are in Help, and the drawing method is in the guide How to Draw a Floor Plan.

What can I do in Gridsnap for free?

Draw floor plans to exact sizes, furnish them, choose floor, wall and furniture finishes one surface at a time, look at the result in 3D, elevations and sections, and export PDF, PNG, DWG and DXF files, Technical or Textured, with no watermark. Overhead renders and finish schedules are free too. Gridsnap Pro adds generated layouts and AI help in space planning, Massing authoring, coordinated room kits, finish schemes and design options to compare, automatic dimensions, material quantities, additional plan checks, unlimited synced projects and full cloud version history. The same Pro features come with every payment option: 90-day Pro access for $39 once with no automatic renewal, Pro Monthly at $19/month or Pro Annual at $149/year. Compare Free and Pro.

Do I need an account, and where are my plans saved?

No account is needed to draw, furnish, finish or export. Plans are saved in your browser on your device and you can keep as many as you like there. A free account syncs one project to the cloud so it opens on another computer; Pro syncs every project and keeps its version history. Library textures and AI tools need a network connection. See where plans are stored.

Can I start from a plan I already have?

Yes. Drop a photo, scan or PDF of the plan into the editor, set its scale against one distance you know, and trace the walls over it. What you get is an ordinary editable plan in true millimetres. You can also start from a template. See editing an existing floor plan.

Can I furnish the plan and choose finishes?

Yes. The furniture catalogue covers living, dining, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom and more; every item resizes to the dimensions you type and appears in 3D. In the Finishes activity you choose a material for a room’s floor, for one wall face, or for a part of a piece of furniture, from built-in materials and the Gridsnap texture library. Finishes show in the Textured plan, in 3D and in exports. They describe how a room looks; they are not prices or product specifications. See choosing finishes.

What can I share with other people?

A measured PDF at 1:50, 1:100 or 1:200 that prints to scale, in the Technical style or Textured with your finishes; a layered DWG or DXF for CAD; a PNG; an overhead render of a furnished storey, which is a presentation image and not a scaled drawing; and a share link that opens the plan read-only in 2D, 3D and elevations in any browser, no account needed. See export and sharing.

When does Gridsnap Pro help?

When you want the editor to do coordinating or repetitive work: generating room layouts from a brief, applying a coordinated room kit across several rooms, saving finish schemes or design options and comparing them side by side, adding dimensions automatically, calculating material quantities, running additional plan checks, or syncing more than one project. Everything you draw and export stays yours when Pro ends. See pricing.
