All the usual text formatting is here: bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, three heading levels, quotes, bulleted and numbered lists.
On desktop
Three ways, and you can use any mix of them:
- Markdown shortcuts as you type:
#for a heading,-for a list,>for a quote,**bold**and*italic*. - The slash menu, by typing
/on an empty line. - The toolbar in the editor header. Select text and open Text formatting, its first button, to pick a style. It can be turned on or off in Settings under Editor, see Customize the editor toolbar.
On selected text, Cmd B, Cmd I and Cmd U make it bold, italic or underlined, with Ctrl in place of Cmd on Windows and Linux.
On mobile
Open the Text group, the first button on the toolbar above the keyboard. It expands into bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, the three headings, paragraph, bullet list, numbered list, quote and horizontal rule. Select text first to style what you selected, or toggle a style and keep typing.
Turning one block into another
Formatting is not locked in. Put the cursor in a paragraph and pick a heading style to convert it, or select several lines and turn them into a list in one step.
Spelling
Misspelled words can be underlined as you type, on both platforms, once you switch it on. See Check your spelling.
