The Art and Wonder of Poetry – Julie’s Cafe – A Poem by Goff James – Quotation

Life begins after coffee.

The image is inspired by the poem Julie's Cafe. It depicts a lively café interior with several groups of people engaged in various activities, such as reading, chatting, and enjoying coffee. The space features warm wooden floors, exposed brick walls adorned with framed artwork, and hanging string lights that create a welcoming ambiance. A barista behind the counter smiles while interacting with customers, preparing drinks near a display of assorted pastries and baked goods. The café’s large window lets in natural light, and there are plants and shelves filled with books and jars adding a homey touch to the setting.
Poem
Julie's Cafe by Goff James
Castle door ancient creaks.
Stone walls whisper tales untold.
Museum grand, paintings and antiques.
As one deeper dives, a softer scene unfolds.

Beyond the foyer's echoing space,
Nestled rearward, hid from sight.
Julie's Café, a welcoming place.
A pleasant haven bright.

Warmth swoons from the open door.
A place to rest, a tranquil shore.

I follow the sound, a tapestry spun,
A joyous song, a gentle hum,
Fragments of voices, laughter, fun,
A mushrooming, harmonious sum.

Blurred notes that rise and softly bend,
Playful whimsies, taking flight,
Muted whispers, sweetly blend,
Spilling out, into the light.

The corridor narrows, draws me near,
Then the scent...a symphony clear.

Coffee's deep, dark, rich allure,
Freshly baked scones golden beam,
Cakes filled with promises, pure,
Strawberry jam and clotted cream

Sandwiches, cheese and ham, made to greet.
Toast and beans, jacket potatoes, piping glow,
Salads on china plates laid out neat.
Soup steaming warmly a comfort to know,

Lollipops, ice creams, bubble gums and sweets
Lemonades and many other children’s treats.

A fresh scone purchased and a coffee small.
Then, off with my coat and hat from the day.
In a corner anew, I settle and sprawl
And share in the chatter where leisure holds sway.
Friends and customers enjoy coffee and conversation in a warm, inviting café

If one could tell the story in words, One wouldn’t need to lug around a camera.

Lewis Hine

The panoramic colour photo depicts a large ruined castle set within its moat and walled grounds. The sky is filled with summer's white clouds and blue sky. In the distant horizon the distant village, trees and hills can be viewed. with
