Unable to receive data from eps32S3

I flashed ESP32-S3 CSI Firmware v0.2.0 onto my ESP32-S3 and used the command python provision.py --port COM6 --ssid "test" --password "test" --target-ip XXX.XX.XXX.X (my local IPv4 address). Everything went smoothly, but when I opened the visualization interface, it showed "No Frames Processed". How can I resolve this?

Look at your logs. The UI isn't important for calibration

Thanks for your reply. In fact, I also use cargo run -p wifi-densepose-hardware --bin aggregator -- --bind 0.0.0.0:5005 --verbose and u I didn't see any data in the debugging mode. By the way, since I don't support csi's Wi-Fi routeing, is it feasible to rely only on esp32s3?

What wifi device are you using?, I've done all my recent testing on esp32 s3 mesh. Typically takes a day or two to get fully trained.

I only used a consumer-grade Wi-Fi router + an esp32 as a test.

Troubleshooting "No Frames Processed"

Based on your screenshots, the ESP32 is provisioned but the server isn't receiving UDP packets.

Step 1: Verify ESP32 is sending data

Connect to the ESP32's serial monitor:

# macOS/Linux
screen /dev/ttyUSB0 115200
# or
idf.py -p /dev/ttyUSB0 monitor

You should see logs like:

CSI: TX frame to 192.168.x.x:5005, 148 bytes

If you see errors like sendto failed or WiFi not connected, the ESP32 isn't on the network.

Step 2: Verify network connectivity

The --target-ip you provided must be:

• Your computer's local IP on the same network (not 127.0.0.1 or localhost)
• Reachable from the ESP32

Find your local IP:

# macOS
ifconfig en0 | grep "inet "

# Linux
ip addr show | grep "inet " | grep -v 127.0.0.1

# Windows
ipconfig | findstr IPv4

Step 3: Verify UDP packets are arriving

Open a terminal and listen:

# macOS/Linux
nc -ul 5005

# Or use tcpdump
sudo tcpdump -i any udp port 5005

If you see hex data arriving, the ESP32 is working. If not:

• Check firewall settings (port 5005 UDP must be open)
• Verify ESP32 and computer are on the same subnet

Step 4: Check the visualization server

Start with debug logging:

RUST_LOG=debug sensing-server --source esp32 --udp-port 5005 --http-port 3000 --ws-port 3001

Look for:

DEBUG: Received CSI frame, magic=0xC5110001, len=148

Common Issues
