Description of the new feature

basically what browsers like firefox and chrome doing when tabs mount up scrolling becoming unwieldy.

Proposed technical implementation details

given there's already a drop down menu on the right hand side, this menu ideally be placed on the left hand side.

If you add something like this to your settings.json file you can open a Tab Picker using Ctrl+P:

(This can also be configured in the Actions editor within the UI settings editor.)

at that point this command palette might as well have actual feature parity with vscode

oh, and give a button or text field for the command palette too like vscode does

i would say simply by adding the same edt operator like vscode to the command palette, we can have a huge improvement here.
