Bug description

When trying to lock the screen, presumably using cinnamon-screensaver under the “Cinnamon on Wayland (Experimental)” session, the display does not enter the lock screen as intended and would normally occur in X11/X.Org. Linux Mint team, I know that you are a solely volunteer-based operation with generous voluntary donations, but please consider porting cinnamon-screensaver to Wayland if you haven't already done that.

Steps to reproduce

1. Start a "Cinnamon on Wayland (Experimental)" session using a login display manager such as lightdm.
2. Wait for desktop environment and desktop to load completely.
3. Lock the screen using cinnamon-screensaver through the Cinnamon launcher menu.

Expected behavior

Lock screen should be displayed when following the steps listed above.

How is "xscreensaver" supposed to work on Wayland? I just updated Cinnamon to 6.4.0 and will try the lock screen / screensaver feature again. I just tried cinnamon-screensaver on Wayland, and the program did not work as expected. Honestly, it seems like it would be until late 2026 to mid 2027 before we Cinnamon on Wayland as the default session for Cinnamon. Hopefully, most applications will support X.Org until then.

The screensaver is disabled from starting in wayland session, eventually it will be integrated into cinnamon.
