Renaming a regular non-dot folder with a name starting with a dot fails to update the view correctly

Let's say you have a folder called "dummy" and you rename it typing F2 and call it ".dummy" (with a dot prefix). When you press enter, the name change does not seem to have been taken into account since the folder still appears as "dummy". In my case, it should have disappeared from the view since I was not making this type of folders visible.

In actuality, the change of name was made.

It's apparent after refreshing the view (pressing F5), the folder disappears and becomes visible again when pressing Ctrl H and the name is .dummy as expected..

I can only reproduce this when "Show hidden folders" is off. If you hit rename a second time and then hit enter without doing anything it then shows as .dummy.

I just encountered this with Nemo 5.8.4 when creating a new directory. It appeared to be named "Untitled Folder" despite the dot-name I gave it, and indeed refreshing showed that the directory was indeed hidden, with the name I gave it. I guess after ten years I shouldn't hope for a speedy fix.
