Hi, I'm Gerard. 🧑💻 My research focuses on applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to large medical imaging datasets, with a specific focus on processing and extracting meaningful insights from neurological MRI data. My aim is to contribute to better understanding and characterization of various brain conditions.
My work has involved developing:
- 🧠 Algorithms for processing and analyzing fetal MRI scans. This helps in studying early neurodevelopmental patterns and laying groundwork for understanding brain maturation from its earliest stages.
- 🔍 Models dedicated to better understanding Alzheimer's Disease. This includes creating multi-channel recurrent Variational Autoencoders to model disease progression over time and developing methods based on similarity learning to identify distinct patient subtypes from complex data.
- 🛠️ Diagnostic support tools, such as 3D Convolutional Neural Networks designed to automatically detect optic nerve lesions in Multiple Sclerosis patients, potentially aiding in monitoring and clinical assessment.
The technical backbone for these projects primarily involves Python. My doctoral thesis, whose LaTeX source code you can find pinned, focuses on data-driven methods for characterizing the heterogeneity observed in Alzheimer's Disease. You can also find other algorithms and studies related to published papers and related work here!
