Fairy History...

 "The Enchanted Professor" can be
found here at The Paper Shelter
I have four grandkids who LOve school!!  So this qualifies in my opinion for "Fall Fun" - the latest Aud Sentiments challenge.   The sponsor provides 2 images for the DT to use - or we can use a TPS image from our files if we have any - and that is what I chose to do here.  You have one more week on this challenge to enter up to 5 projects for a chance at the prize.  Take a look at what the other DT have done - it is really interesting to see how an image can be used so many different ways.
PROCESS INVENTORY
IMAGES:
  • "The Enchanted Professor" is from The Paper Shelter.
  • For the focal image I used Paper Tole Technique to 3D it.  I printed 3 copies, colored them with Copics, fussy cut and 'paper sculpted' [this is dry embossing the image from the back with a large ball tool].  The layers were both glued & elevated with foam tape to achieve dimension.
  • The quote is actually not by Carl Sagan, but by Sharon Begley  according to The Quote Investigator:  "...based on current evidence Sagan did not create this quotation. Instead, the reporter Sharon Begley constructed the phrase. The quotation has been ascribed to Sagan because the passage at the end of the 1977 Newsweek profile article has been misinterpreted."  Either way, I find the quote quite delicious and sooo appropriate and I hope it inspires the grandkids!

PAPER:
  • Neenah "Classic Crest Solar White" 80# Cover Wt. used for the image.
  • DP used is from "7 Gypsies" and Tim Holtz'  "Ideology".
  • Inside layered with paper scraps left from the front.  Finished the 'frame' by drawing lines reminiscent of the wide lines used for kids to practice their penmanship - and then wrote the sentiment & reason for the card.
EMBELLISHMENTS:
  • The square Copper Brads are from stash.
  • The ruler is cut off one of the DP sheets.
  • Diamond Glaze used on his glasses.
INKS:
  • "Old Paper" Distress Ink used to ink all the edges & the pages of the book.
  • Images were printed on an Epson WF-3520 printer
  • Hand colored with Copics:
This card should be eligible for the following

      Time for Tea...

"It's Time for Tea" was provided by The Paper Shelter [TPS]
the sentiment is word art by Ginny H from Aud Sentiments
This is my project for the most recent Challenge at Aud Sentiments.  The theme is to Use a TWO or THREE Word Sentiment. Our sponsor is The Paper Shelter and they are offering a $15.00 Gift Certificate for the winner!  This is the last week of the challenge - you can submit up to 5 entries for a chance for the prize!  I encourage you to take a look at my teammates' projects - these women have some absolutely inspired projects to get you motivated!  Check out their artwork and get your project in before Tuesday Nov 4!

I enjoy Steampunk, so there was no doubt this would be the image I chose to use.  I started with a 5.5 x 6" red CS base on which I layered the DP from the Idea-ology Paper Pad.  The image was printed and colored with Copics, the flourish and leaves were fussy cut off the edge of the panel .  Distress Inks were used to sponge color on to the tag and to distress the edges of the DP and sentiment circle.  The sentiment was printed, punched out in a size that would fit the center of a clock & adhered with foam tape to elevate it a bit.  I chose four gears from my stash, colored them with Distress Ink before gluing them down.

This card should be eligible for the following

      Adorable...

This looks so much like my lovely and elderly "Xena - the Warrior Princess" - I could not resist her.

This digi is from The Paper Shelter - I printed her out, colored with Copics and then used a die to cut the oval and accompanying red mat.  I made a tag out of it and elevated on foam tape.  The "stars" background has been embossed using a Cuttlebug  The crown and parts of the collar are faux embossed with Duo Glue and gold foil.  That can be seen best in the close-up to the right.  My final touch was a matching red ribbon for the tag, tied with gold cord.

It is Monday and Craft Your Passion is starting Challenge #158 - "Adorable Animals".  The Design Team entries are lots of fun - and you can submit your entry by Sunday, 4/21 to be eligible for some very good prizes!
