The alarm is the starting gun. Stop it, do the work, beat your rival — every result sealed until both sides are in, then revealed at one stamped instant. Upend is a wake-up race between two friends. One of you issues the challenge — twenty squats, a photo from outside the bedroom, a barcode off the milk in the fridge. Each of you sets your own alarm for your own morning. The alarm is the starting gun: the moment you stop it, your clock is running. You are scored on elapsed time from your own alarm-stop, not on who woke first. Waking at 5:40 buys no head start over your rival's 7:15 — the race is from unconscious to done, and it is exactly as long as you make it. WHAT A MORNING LOOKS LIKE • The alarm fires at the time you chose. Stopping it launches straight into the challenge. • Squat challenges are counted by the camera, entirely on your phone. No video is ever recorded, stored, or sent — the app reads angles, not footage. • While the challenge runs you see presence, not numbers: your rival is asleep, up, started, or finished. Their time stays sealed. • When the outcome is decided, the result is stamped at one server instant and unsealed for both of you — times, reps, the verdict, and one line of commentary grounded in the actual history between the two of you. THE RECORD IS THE POINT Every result lands in the rivalry record: the series, the streaks, walkover wins filed as exactly what they are. Sleep through your alarm and it goes down in athletics notation — DNS, Did Not Start — and your rival gets the card. Lose, and the fastest way to fix the scoreline is tomorrow morning. ANYONE CAN SEE THE SCOREBOARD Every result is a link. Send it anywhere — the scoreboard renders in any browser, no app needed, so anyone can follow a rivalry. Inviting a rival works the same way: the link is the invite. No phone numbers, no scanning your contacts. MEASURED, NOT POLICED Deny the camera and a challenge still resolves — every result carries a verification badge, from camera-verified down to self-reported, and a record full of self-reported wins speaks for itself. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION Sign in with Apple, name only: Upend never receives your email address, phone number, location, or contacts. Camera frames are processed on the device and discarded.
