Music, food, film and culture – this summer, Westfield destinations across Europe and the US have been offering visitors something beyond the everyday.    🎵 In Vienna, Westfield Shopping City Süd has been hosting Sunset Sound 2026, a free Friday evening concert series featuring artists including The Bad Powells, Mountain Crew, Ness, Thorsteinn Einarsson and Alexander Eder.    🎵  Westfield Donau Zentrum is a proud home to one of the stages for Vienna's Summer of Culture, a city-wide programme bringing free open-air music, cabaret, theatre, dance and performance art to Vienna's neighbourhoods – with something on offer for every taste.     🎵 In Poland, Westfield Arkadia's Summer Festival has turned the green space in front of the centre into a hub of free activity all summer long – with creative children's workshops, outdoor cinema screenings, comedy improv nights and dance workshops running through August. Nearby, Wroclavia's rooftop has become one of Wrocław's liveliest summer stages, with jazz, DJ sets, tribute concerts and dance classes providing daily activities throughout the summer season.     🎵 Across the Atlantic, Westfield Old Orchard near Chicago has been hosting its Summer of Sound concert series, with live shows from Rod Tuffcurls & the Bench Press and Smash Mouth, plus drinks, a wealth of dining options and strong community spirit drawing in local crowds.     🍲 At Westfield World Trade Center in New York, one of the city's best-loved outdoor food markets Smorgasburg returns every Friday. In Stockholm, Westfield Täby Centrum is seeing strong momentum, with leading brands doubling down on larger, more experience-led flagship formats – a clear vote of confidence in the centre and the audiences it attracts.    🛍️ Multiple retailers including LYKO, SATS Sverige, Skechers and Smarteyes Sverige have taken larger spaces in the centre, while Stadium has reopened a fully refurbished store featuring a new experiential concept. Westfield Centro just got a little bit sweeter! A new strawberry-themed fun park has opened next door to the centre in Oberhausen, Germany. Karls Erlebnishof began as a strawberry farm founded by Karl Dahl in Mecklenburg in 1921 and has grown, over more than a century, into one of Germany's most beloved family experience concepts combining theme parks, water parks, rollercoasters, rides, dining, hotels and more.     The newest Karls is its eighth theme park in Germany and marks the first time the brand has opened in the heart of a major city. Today, URW announced strong 2026 half-year financial results, fully in line with the trajectory set out in our ‘Platform for Growth’ 2025-28 business plan.   Performance was driven by sustained growth in tenant sales and footfall, strong leasing momentum, higher MGR uplifts and record-low vacancy. As consumers grow increasingly fatigued by digital interruption, physical spaces are proving to be the most accepted – and most effective – places to hold attention and drive measurable outcomes for brands. This is according to new research conducted among UK consumers by Westfield Rise, our in-house retail media agency, in partnership with Lumen Research. The study confirms that shopping centres are emerging as one of today's most effective advertising environments, with findings including:   ➡️ Experiential activations in Westfield centres deliver the highest levels of attention of any channel, rivalled only by cinema at the top of the attention funnel.   ➡️ Westfield Rise's digital totems outperform industry benchmarks for roadside (+36%) and internal (+17%) digital OOH formats.  ➡️ Exposure to advertising in a shopping centre boosts subsequent attention on social media by 117%, proving that Westfield environments are powerful priming environments for brands.  ➡️ Brand recall following a Westfield Rise experiential installation reaches 66%, compared to approximately 25-37% across other channels. The findings demonstrate that context now takes precedence over simple exposure. In shopping centres, consumer attention is naturally available, and advertising does not disrupt a shopper's activities, it complements them. In celebration of the largest football competition on the planet, our centres around the world have set up dedicated fan zones where visitors can enjoy the action from the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Here are just a few:     ⚽ At Westfield Century City in Los Angeles, the iconic Atrium was transformed into a fan zone where visitors gathered to watch World Cup matches on a giant screen. Hundreds of fans kicked back on beanbags with friends and family, sampling snacks and drinks from the centre's array of dining options, including a limited-edition Soccer Mousse Cake from Haidilao.     ⚽ At Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, the waterfront terrace became an open-air public viewing spot in HafenCity, with views of the Elbe and a relaxed, spacious atmosphere in collaboration with riverside restaurant Elemente.  ⚽ In Prague, Westfield Chodov has been hosting rooftop screenings in partnership with Coca-Cola, McDonald's and Hisense Group, complete with freestyle footbag performances and live entertainment from the Groove Army drum troupe.     ⚽ And in Madrid, Westfield Parquesur set up a multi-screen fan zone around its recently renovated lakeside terrace, with DJs, decorations and brand activations, including an Invictus zone from Paco Rabanne.     URW's centres have always been about bringing people together, and moments like this are a reminder of just how powerful shared experiences can be. In an exclusive partnership with Azerion, a leading European digital advertising platform, Westfield Rise is launching Shopper Audio, an audio advertising format that turns the soundscape of our shopping centres into targetable, measurable media inventory.     Using the innovative technology, advertising messages are seamlessly integrated into the centres’ sound programming through immersive formats designed to adapt to the shopping context and maximise relevance.
