Every cosmetic claim starts with a question: does this active actually do what we say it does — in real human skin? For years, answering that has meant a compromise. Animal models raise ethical and translational concerns. Reconstructed epidermis captures only a fraction of the skin's biology — no hair follicle, no immune cells, no adipocytes, no neurons. Mechanistic claims end up built on partial models. At Biohive, we've taken a different route. Our platform grows full-architecture human skin organoids from iPSCs — epidermis, dermis, hypodermis and hair follicle, with the full range of skin cell types, immunocompetent by design. It's the only in vitro model that reconstructs skin as a complete system rather than a single layer. For brands and ingredient makers, that means claim substantiation grounded in real human biology: mechanism of action, efficacy and safety, on customizable, clinically phenotyped models. If you're working on an in vitro question — hair growth, pigmentation, sensitive skin, barrier, anti-aging — we'd be glad to explore it with you. Let's talk — you'll find the link to book a 45-min call with us in the first comment 👇 #SkinBiology #InVitro #CosmeticScience #Organoids #ClaimSubstantiation #Biotech #iPSC #SkinCare #CosmeticsIndustry #ActiveIngredients #Dermatology #NewApproachMethodologies #NAMs #AnimalFreeTesting #CrueltyFree #SkinModels #R&D #Innovation #BeautyTech #Efficacy #HairGrowth #AntiAging #Pigmentation #SensitiveSkin #Formulation #DeepTech #LifeSciences #CosmeticFormulation #SkinResearch #Preclinical

Maxence first heard of 3D skin models when he was a master's student and it quietly set the course for everything that followed… 😏 That spark led him to specialize in skin biology at Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, then into immunology at CIRI Centre International de Recherche en Infectiologie, where he worked on inflammatory skin diseases, cutaneous HPV and cytotoxic T cells. The result: a double expertise, the immune system and the skin. After his academic chapter, Max spent a year travelling across Asia! He came back wanting something different. A place where you follow a project from start to finish, where you see the impact of your work, where things move fast. He found it here at BioHive. As an R&D engineer, he now works on pushing our skin organoids toward even greater complexity. The full circle? After years of hearing about 3D skin models, he finally got to see one with his own eyes. And not just any model, one of the most complex out there. Welcome, Max. The future is organoid. #TeamBioHive #Organoids #Dermatology #Immunology #Biotech

Last week I joined RAISE and its ecosystem at the Fondation GoodPlanet for RAISE Together with Hugo Garcès, Maxence Dubois and Noémie Therry. 🌿 One idea ran through the evening: connect, and reconnect. Founders, investors and operators sharing what they're building and where they're headed. A few familiar faces, new ones too, and a private concert by Clara Luciani to close the night. Thank you to the RAISE Sherpas team Ulysse Burlet-Pailhé, Louise Colin, Jade Cizeau-Zeenni for the energy behind this gathering. Being part of this community is a real driver for BioHive as we keep growing. The future is organoid. #RAISETogether #Deeptech #Biotech #VentureCapital

After 20 years of research in Asia with a deep expertise in skin biology and an award-winning discovery, Sophie joined BioHive! 🧫 Trained at École normale supérieure and holding a PhD in cancer biology from Institut Pasteur, she pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in Paris before joining A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR Skin Research Labs (A*STAR SRL)) and the Skin Research Institute of Singapore (SRIS), where she directed large-scale international programs in skin aging, senescence, epidermal homeostasis and stem cell biology. With publications in leading scientific journals and invitations to speak at international conferences, Sophie has spent her career bridging fundamental research and industrial applications. One of her career highlights? Co-discovering the anti-aging mechanisms of niacinamide in collaboration with Procter & Gamble - a breakthrough that earned her the P&G Connect + Develop Award in 2019, gained international media coverage, and contributed to the launch of two product lines. At BioHive, Sophie is building the scientific framework of our human skin organoid platform, developing predictive assays that give beauty and pharmaceutical partners highly relevant, physiologically meaningful data. "In a startup, things move fast, and I love that. Every day is different, every challenge is an opportunity to push boundaries. And at the heart of it all is an organoid platform whose potential we've only just begun to unlock," she says. The future is organoid. #TeamBioHive #Organoids #Dermatology #Biotech #Dermocosmetics

Pharmacy, public health, and now a deeptech startup. Hugo's path has been diverse, and that’s exactly what he loves about it. ❤️ He started his journey in pharmacy at Université de Toulouse, driven by a fascination for healthcare and the science behind treatments. Along the way, he became actively involved in student life through peer tutoring, student association leadership and student representation at faculty level. That experience confirmed he thrives on taking challenges, leading projects, and bringing people together. His dual interest in healthcare and business led him to us. He wanted to move fast, work across disciplines, and contribute to something meaningful. That’s exactly what he found at BioHive: a fast-growing deeptech developing skin organoids that are transforming the way pharmaceutical and cosmetic R&D is conducted, with plenty still to build. Here, as the right hand to Cesare (COO), no two days are the same. From marketing strategy and CRM to business development and operational projects, Hugo contributes to building BioHive from the inside, at a stage where every initiative counts. And with ESSEC Business School around the corner, he knows this experience is shaping exactly the kind of professional he wants to become. The future is organoid. #TeamBioHive #Organoids #Dermatology #Biotech #Innovation

From Dublin to Lyon and back again, Noémie has always followed her curiosity, and she’s now bringing it to BioHive! 🌍 Biological engineer trained at Polytech Clermont, Noémie's path took a decisive turn during an internship at the UCD Charles Institute of Dermatology in Dublin - where a chance encounter with dermatology research turned into a genuine passion. She then joined EPISKIN at L'Oréal, working on reconstructed epidermis models for atopic dermatitis, before returning to Dublin at the UCD Conway Institute, where she deepened her immunology expertise across a wide range of methods and projects. When she decided to move to France, she had one clear priority: finding a company whose spirit matched her values. Agile, innovative, scientifically ambitious and working on a program she could genuinely believe in. BioHive ticked every box. Here, Noémie leads an R&D project while sharing cosmetic testing responsibilities with Sacha. She brings her international experience, adaptability, and proactive mindset to a team that's growing fast. The future is organoid. #TeamBioHive #Organoids #Dermatology #Biotech #Dermocosmetics

Hair follicle biology is complex and most models don't do it justice. 😔 Standard cell-based assays lack the multicellular architecture that governs real follicle behavior: the growth dynamics, the dermal papilla signaling, the cell-to-cell interactions that determine whether a hair grows, stops, or falls. At BioHive, our skin organoids embed the full hair follicle unit within its native microenvironment. This means we can characterize follicle activation across the key molecular pathways that actually matter: growth factor signaling, Wnt/β-catenin pathway, BMP antagonism, dermal papilla identity, stem cell niche, cell proliferation, survival and follicular extracellular matrix remodeling. The result? Quantifiable, structural readouts. Using Minoxidil as a reference compound, our organoids demonstrated +36% hair follicle length and +27% thickness, measured by high-resolution 3D confocal imaging. Test your molecules on a complete hair follicle unit and its microenvironment. The future is organoid. #Organoids #HairGrowth #ScalpCare #Biotech #PreclinicalResearch #Dermocosmetics

From a childhood passion for skin care to skin organoids, Maureen Blain made her path as she intended. 💪 Currently completing her Master's in Biotechnology, specialized in bioengineering and biomedical applications at Université de Toulouse, Maureen joined BioHive 4 months ago for her final internship. She could have gone academic. She chose a growing biotech startup, and she hasn't looked back. Maureen's work spans two challenging and stimulating R&D projects, at the forefront of cutting-edge skin science. She's evolving in a dynamic and agile environment, where interns also have a crucial role to play. What surprised her most joining us was watching a fully integrated hair follicle grow into our 3D skin model. "Seeing what's possible starting from iPSCs (induced pluripotent stem cells) is just incredible," she says. The future is organoid. #TeamBioHive #Organoids #Dermatology #Biotech #Dermocosmetics
