So, I'm bed bound right? Which means I can't walk or stand appropriately. It takes a lot of effort for me to stand and I can only do it seconds at a time. They told me I had a testing policy violation, revoked my rights to test online at home and keep telling me I have to go to an online testing center. I do not have the means to do so. I'm completely and utterly without hope. I feel so defeated. I can't take my tests now and I'll never go to college unless I get money to pay for my courses without getting a g.e.d.

Does anyone know of ways to go to free college without a highschool diploma or g.e.d? Someone has to know.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: I wanted to love this game, but the most I could muster up was an appreciation for its artistry, world-building, and ambition. Too much of the story was left clouded, hidden behind impossible bosses, and character motivations kept opaque to preserve surprises for the audience. Massive spoilers behind the cut. )

On top of that, T and I both found the combat difficult in an unsatisfying way, and having to learn not just entirely different skill trees but power-up mechanisms for every character felt unnecessary. Eventually we turned the difficulty level down, which helped, but in the end it felt like we were just slogging through the final battles to get to the ending and be done with it. Disappointing.

Plur1bus: Like many folks, I was eagerly anticipating this one, based on my love for Rhea Seehorn in Better Call Saul, and it lived up to that expectation -- although in other ways I wasn't sure what to expect, and it certainly kept me guessing throughout. It's hard to say much without spoilers, so I'll limit my thoughts here to being just generally impressed by it, and blown away by Seehorn's performance, and also by Karolina Wydra, who played Zosia, a tough role on several levels. Excited to see where it goes!

The 2026 Winter Olympics: Despite all the problems, I do still love the Olympics -- getting to watch and learn about different sports, witness joy and heartbreak and feats of incredible athleticism, following developing storylines and experience the unexpected. I dipped in and out of a lot of events, but I ended up spending the most time on curling. T is a fan -- it's perhaps the only Olympic sport that he'll actively sit down and watch with me -- and because the athletes are all miked, you can hear them discussing strategy with each other, which is really interesting. I also caught some figure skating; in particular, the men's and women's free programs were fascinating case studies in the folly of expectations, and I genuinely loved watching the two gold medal winners put in the performances of their lives.

Let's Go Karaoke Live Action

vriddy: Hawks looking back cheekily holding a feather (cheeky hawks)
For my Karaoke Iko people out there, the Let's Go Karaoke movie live-action is available on the Japanese Film Festival website until June 3rd (JST)! Hopefully for your region, too.

If you're not familiar, I can also warmly recommend the 5 episode anime that's on Crunchyroll, if you have access.

I haven't read the manga or its sequel yet but I'm sure they're great fun too ;)

It's been super interesting to watch the movie after the anime and see the tweaks in the adaptation!! I think it all worked really well and I enjoyed it a lot. If you've also watched both (or any!!!!) you should talk to me actually :D

trails from zero thoughts

larissa: (FFTA ☄ ⌈childhood days⌋)

i'm a ways into chapter 2 of trails from zero, so here's some thoughts on the game so far.

spoilers below )

right now i think my plan for the next couple months is as follows: trails from zero this month, trails to azure next month, and then a break to play clair obscur. i don't own the cold steel games yet (and i'm debating where i want to play them... i need to find out if there's save data carry-over) so i hope there's a sale by the time i get there. i really would like to focus on the trails series this year, because i've genuinely been having such a good time with it.

on a related note, i finally got my collector's edition box for trails in the sky 1st chapter (the remake of FC) and it's even lovelier than i expected. they even threw in an extra bracer emblem pin since it was so late. i'll definitely be looking out for the collector's edition of 2nd chapter when it releases later this year.

iron chef as experienced by ants

operasteers: cartoon boy jumping and then disappearing (p'arriba)
maybe my path in life is to like just become so enamored with ants that i'll have no choice but to make super sexy ocs of them or something

cause there i was, lemon ginger tea freshly steeped, and of course i gotta add a spoon of honey so there i go, with my spoon, opening up the jar

and there

there the little bastards are

in all fairness to the ants, honey IS pretty tasty, so i can't blame them completely... was just... not the best surprise to look down and see them all yelling at me... maybe the feeling was mutual though, maybe to them i interrupted their chopped challenge featuring honey...

i haven't seen chopped in a good minute... i remember liking it—well, sometimes, because it was pretty stressful... that reminds me, the other day when i went to get my car oil changed, there was a show playing called "the repair shop" where this group of restorers would fix/restore old items that had been brought in, and from what i saw a lot of them were items that had a lot of personal history with the owners, which i found really touching :') so i'm definitely interested in looking more into the show when i can :v

anyhow, one of the ants did fall into the honey and i sent him off as gently as i could... and still used the honey because 1) honey is Expensive and 2) i'm not sure why, but i always feel like ants are a lot cleaner? than some other bugs?

like the other day when i was finishing up some homework, i set down my tea for a split second and when i picked it back up, a gnat decided to make its final rest there and i... just could not finish it (thankfully there was like... maybe not even a fourth? of it left?) but sigh

such is life

So, uh. Unexpected emergency dental surgery yesterday! Nothing terribly gruesome )

So yeah, anyways, recovering from that! I already feel a bit better, thank you antibiotics.

I have written my first fic in a long time because of Resident Evil Requiem. I just need to get it all typed up and in the same place, haha. I'm really excited! It's Victor Gideon/Leon Kennedy because what can I say, I'm a monsterfucker. XD;

(I kinda think that's why I have no interest in Heated Rivalry, both because they're just dudes and also because they get together canonically; that's fucking boring! I only like sex/romance when I already give a shit about the characters, which is why fandom is where I live)

[personal profile] cypher and I are going to Norwescon in April I'm a SO EXCITED. I haven't been to a con in like. Nine years, I think? It has been A WHILE. And it's a four day con and there's lots of fun things to do on Thursday and Friday! So I won't even need to take work off for it. :D I have planned out Thursday already, even though everyone knows how plans fail.
A list of plans for Thursday
Click to embiggen!

There are SO MANY PANELS but we've narrowed it down to the ones we actually want to attend. I'm so excited. Aaaaahhh. :D I am so delighted. And this con is held literally twelve minutes from my house so why have I never gone? Who knows. Time to fix that now.

EDIT: Also, amazing news, Will paid off the house! It is now ours, free and clear (except for taxes!). The car will be paid off by the end of this month! Finances going....okay? WHEW.

Eureka!!!

zavodilaterrarium: Human version of Sonic the Hedgehog smiling at the camera, index finger pointing up. (Energetic)
Yesterday and today, I grinded FATES in Eureka Pyros (third area of the Stormblood field op) with Honguito. When we first started Eureka like a year ago, I shot straight to EL57 because I was obsessed, even though Honguito stopped at the late 30s due to hand-pain and lack of motivation. Then neither of us touched it for at least several months until Del got into it for a day or two. That got me to EL58, then we didn't touch it again until yesterday. Eureka is this blend of boring and "teehee haha logograms :D". Honestly, I like a certain level of grinding; repetitive stuff is a bit soothing, especially if it's social or novel in the context of the larger game.

I should probably engage in more "thank you for the FATE pop" etiquette because I find it very pleasant to be on the receiving end of, but I've been forgetting to these two days because we've been doing 90% of the pops in our instances. That was like... 12 hours of FATE grinding, phew. Now I'm EL60! After dying once during today's grind XD

Most of my time in Eureka 'solo' was spent levelling while I let others work on popping FATES (ones that I didn't always benefit from due to said lack of EXP), so I had a lot more Fundamental Mnemes from kill chains than any other type. Now I have a similar number of Conceptual Mnemes, but not much of anything else. At least common Logograms aren't like, bad by any means, they can still make very useful Logos Actions. (Logogram = raw general material, Mneme = refined and specific material, Logos Action = ability created from refined material)
