What’s happening with AI in #Seinäjoki? Quite a lot, actually. 🤖👀 Yesterday, GPT-Lab Seinäjoki welcomed participants to the NexTech Ecosystem TESTAAMO: AI 2.0 Testing Workshop, organized by SEAMK - Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences The afternoon was all about bringing AI closer to practice: introducing what we do at GPT-Lab Seinäjoki, sharing our current projects and activities, and giving participants the chance to experience real-life AI demos in action. Jussi Rasku, Vice Head of GPT-Lab (Tampere University), introduced GPT-Lab and the work happening at our #Seinäjoki location, while Henri Katajisto gave an introduction to Finnish AI Region (FAIR EDIH) Region and how it can support companies interested in exploring AI. ⚡ We built an AI factory for HVAC control ⚡ NEW BLOG by Rajratan Wankhade, project researcher from GPT-Lab (Tampere University) Over the summer, our researcher Rajratan Wankhade worked with Koja as part of the AI Champion project to build an AI factory for HVAC control optimization. And this wasn’t a benchmark exercise. Koja provided access to three air handling units at a real production site, with live telemetry going back to the beginning of 2024. So, what exactly is an AI factory? Think of it as a pipeline that can take a goal stated in plain language — improve comfort in this zone without spending more fan energy — and turn it into a traceable optimization experiment. Specialised AI agents interpret and plan the work. Deterministic programs do the calculations and checks. If something doesn’t add up, the run can stop completely. Every experiment can then be traced back to the exact data and settings that produced it. Because working with AI in real buildings is much more interesting (and much messier) than working with a perfect dataset. 🚀 Yesterday’s discussion at Tekoälymuutos ja tulevaisuus? at #Paidia, Nokia Areena on Finland’s AI future raised many very real concerns.  The future of work. Trust in what we see online. Environmental impacts. The effects of AI on learning and independent thinking.   But one idea from the discussion stayed with me in particular. What if AI could also help us move work in a more meaningful direction?  Taking over some of the tasks people find repetitive or unrewarding? Therefore, leaving more room for creativity, judgment, and the things humans actually want to spend their time on?   AI futures do not have to be framed only through fear and mitigation.  Optimism is also a legitimate position. Not blind optimism, but the belief that we can still make choices about what kind of role we want AI to have in society.   One question that came through strongly from the audience discussion was this:   Instead of asking only what AI will change, what do we want to change with AI?   We’d love to hear your thoughts too. 𝗚𝗣𝗧-𝗟𝗮𝗯 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 🎉 As part of the 2026 orientation programme for new students in the Master’s Degree Programme in Management and Information Technology (JOT) in Porin yliopistokeskus – UCPori, students took on GPT-Lab (Tampere University)’s challenge at the traditional #RASTIRATA at Kirjurinluoto. The task was simple: imagine something from your future worth capturing and bring it to life with generative AI. Students prompted their ideas using GPT-Lab’s #sandbox application and presented the results to our very official evaluation jury consisted of top-tier researchers such as Kai-Kristian Kemell, Pekka Sillberg, Janne Harjamäki, and of course, led by Prof. Pekka Abrahamsson. 😜 The biggest technical glitch of the day? 🚀 Master's Thesis Opportunity at GPT-Lab (Tampere University) AI-Supported Strategy in Software Companies: A Qualitative Mapping of Practices and Implications Supervisors: Jussi Rasku and Mikko Auranen 💡 Objective Examine how AI is currently used in developing and implementing strategy in software companies, and how this relates to decision-making quality and software and process outcomes. 🔍 Methodology • Collect academic and non-academic sources discussing AI in strategic processes. • Conduct thematic content analysis to identify how AI tools are applied in strategic planning, communication, monitoring, and adaptation. • Synthesize a conceptual framework linking AI-supported strategic activities with decision-making styles and outcome quality using illustrative case material from publicly available examples. Methodologically, the thesis may be conducted as a systematic literature review or grounded theory research. 📖 Rationale This topic provides grounded insight into an emerging area of practice without requiring access to internal company data.
