I took this picture of our

sky at 5:30 this morning

and it already looks

 HOT....

at least to me anyway...

HAPPY HOT

SUNDAY FRIENDS!

 

It was a wonderful day...

as far as our

 church meetings and

my Y.W. lesson went well...

and dinner turned out yummy...

 

 

But my heart breaks

and we are deeply saddened at

the news of the loss tonight of the

19 young lives

from one community

fighting the Yarnell

fire in our state...

how tragically heartbreaking

 for the loved ones of these

dedicated

 cream of the crop firefighters...

also the 100's of homes lost to

the fire as well...

our thoughts and prayers are with

those left to continue the fight

of this raging fire

and to those trying

 to save their homes...

we need rain BADLY

in our drought ridden state

rain without lightening

would be the best...

from what I understand

lightening is what

started this fire...

 

as we were listening

to the sad news

this little cutie

and of course his parents'

popped by to see us....

grandchildren

ALWAYS

 bring

a smile to my face...

and to Grandpa's too!

 

I feel bad for complaining about

the heat....hearing of such

emotional tragedies as this wildfire

tonight ALWAYS snaps me out of

any pity party I may be having
real quick like

and makes me count my many

many blessings...

our prayers and thoughts are with all

who have been touched by this blazing

wild fire...prayers for rain and for the

wind to settle down....

and also prayers and fingers crossed

for my hubby

and all those who work with him...

tomorrow morning after he works

his graveyard shift

there is a union meeting

which we are keeping

 our toes...our fingers...

and eyes crossed

that they have chosen

 NOT to go out

on STRIKE!!!!!

Our family is thankful for the

blessing of work and are praying

for it to be a continued blessing

in our lives...

It is also a dry heat on the surface of the sun...

Today was HOTTER

than it was yesterday!!!!!

We had 120 degrees

 in the shade and

some places in the valley

 recorded 122

but the recorded temp

comes from

Sky Harbor Airport

and they recorded

119 degrees...

they said if you were in

Phoenix today....

you were part of history.

Phoenix not only broke

their previous record

for June 29th of 117 degrees...

but also set their 4th

 HOTTEST HIGH TEMP

of ALL TIME!!!!!

In addition...

this is the FIRST time the high

temperature at Phoenix

 has reached the 119 degree mark.

Highs of 122, 121, 120, and 118

 had been achieved...

but never 119 until today!!!!!

So.......I pretty much

stayed INSIDE and worked

on my Young Women's

lesson for tomorrow...

and then Amy my dear friend

invited me to her daughter's

home for a Pampered Chef Party...

they cooked everything

in the microwave 

so not to heat her home up...

everything was so yummy!!!!

I haven't been to one of those

forever...love their stuff!!!!!

I won the door prize!!!!

A citrus peeler and

a cook book....

that will come in so handy

when it COOLS off and we

have citrus coming out

of our ears this winter...

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!

October to April

is ALWAYS so

BEAUTIFUL here!!!!

{A little side note...I wore my new sleeping boot

for the first time last night and woke up in

a whole lot LESS pain this morning....WOO HOO!!!}

Today was HOT!

 Not a lot going on today....

it was so HOT I tried not

to move more than necessary....

true story!!!!

Breakfast consisted of leftover

lemon meringue pie

it has eggs it in and fruit

so I'm good!

And.....

it was COLD and I put

it on our plate

that has a snowman on it....

trying to psych my self out thinking

I am NOT really in Hell...

before I venture out where it IS ONLY

safe if you are a lizard or snake

 to see the doc...

For a couple years my heel

has given me such grief....

finally seeing why...

~Plantar Fasciitis~

x-rays were taken and he pointed

out there are several spurs

and the padding

that cushions my step is shot....

well no stinkin' wonder it

 HURTS

like the dickens...

a nice little cortisone shot and a

splint.....hmmm just what you want

to wear when it is 119 degrees out....

a brace!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY TREASURED FRIEND!

 My hubby

 had a birthday today

and we had a party

with our children

and

grandchildren...

 He LOVES

lemon meringue pie...

so I made him two!!!!

 We have a tradition in our family

that we have strawberry crepes

on our birthdays.....

tonight I six times~ed my recipe

and it took 3 hours to feed

 our tribe as many as they wanted......

WE LOVE STRAWBERRY CREPES!

 We sure do LOVE our grandkiddo's...

THEY ARE THE BEST!!!!

If things get better with age...

my hubby is approaching

MAGNIFICENT!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SUGAR!!!!

because it is further than the moon...

I love you with all my butt

because it's bigger than my heart!!!!!

Young Women

in our ward

and I feel

 mighty lucky!!!!

I was in charge of doing

a little somethin' somethin' with

the girls tonight

 and came across these

really cute magnetic bookmarks

on Pinterest.....

I am a bit addicted to it...

actually you could say I am a

Pinterest hoarder
you laugh but it's true
hahaha

anyway

I decided to cut apart

a box of the other stuff

I have no personality without
 and draw up some

patterns for the girls...



this is what I came up with

using supplies I had on hand...

magnetic bookmarks

for our scriptures...
pretty similar to the ones
I saw...

Time to leave

for mutual...
hoping the girls
will enjoy making these...

I am back home now and
think it went well...

the girls are

SOOOO CREATIVE!!!

I am sad I didn't get a picture

of the ones they finished...

they were able to get

two or three done

 each for themselves....

I expect to see them on Sunday

because they WILL remember

to bring their scriptures to class

RIGHT?

I feel very very blessed

to work with such beautiful

young women...

not only are they beautiful
on the outside
but the inside too!!!!!
When I was a young woman
many many pounds ago...
during that critical age...
having personal struggles
of my own...
 when important
life decisions were being made I
had wonderful sweet women
who were my leaders who
made such a huge impact
 on me which helped
me nurture my testimony
 and strengthen my love
for my Heavenly Father...
I hope I can be that same
kind of guiding influence
and example for the girls
 I work with...
to help them see that
obedience is not restrictive and it
will bring blessings to them
if they BELIEVE
OBEY and ENDURE
as President Monson has said...
tonight it might just be about making
silly bookmarks but I hope in the
end they can look back like I do now
and see that they were loved
 and important to me...
Of all the callings
I have had over
the many years
in the church...
I have to say working
with the youth has to
be my
ALL TIME
FAVORITE!

Part Two......Day Trippin' with my Mom!

When my Mom realized

 that Aunt Merle

wasn't remembering her

 and there

was no recollection

it was heartbreaking....

I asked her {my Aunt}

 if she remembered Leah Beth

and she said

 "Yes... Leah is my baby sister...

but SHE {my Mom}

 is OLDER than me!"

My Mom

thought if she took off

her glasses she might be able

to identify her...

there was still nothing

sadly...

but once in a while

my Aunt would ask me...

"Doesn't she look familiar?"

"Who does she look like?"

While we were having our visit

another lady who lives in the

nursing home walked through

the living room and I recognized

her as the Mother of a dear friend

of mine who I went

 from Kindergarten

clear through Graduation with...

what a treat to see Carol again and

to take pictures and get back home

and share them with my friend

 {who lives in another state}

 through facebook....

All too soon the visit

ended....even though I don't

think her sister

 ever remembered her...

I think we brought

 her some cheer....

I KNOW

she brought us some...

she still has her wonderful

sense of humor...

one of my

 ABSOLUTE FAVORITE

 things about her...

their farewell brought

tears to my eyes...

I am not sure they will have

the chance to see each other

again in this lifetime...

these were sweet and

 happy moments

for sure...

leaving the nursing home

we crossed some railroad tracks...

the train was a BIG part of

my growing up...

everyday I heard

 the train whistle

and going and coming

to town or school or church

we crossed the tracks...

I MISS THE TRAIN!

Before leaving Snowflake

we drove by the Temple...

it is beautiful!!!!

The wind

 STILL BLOWS LIKE CRAZY...

one thing I do NOT miss

 hahaha

Snowflake is a

 BEAUTIFUL little town...

I would love to own a home

in these fields

and have this view

 EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!!!

I love their street lights with

the flower baskets

 hanging from them...

made me NOT

want to return to our

HEAT!

We then drove to Show Low

to visit her other sister who

is five years older

 than my Mom...

she is AWESOME!

We had a wonderful visit

 at her home...

there were five sisters

 in their family

along with three brothers...

two of which were

 killed in W.W.II...

how my Grandmother

 handled that

I will never know...

I can't imagine the heartbreak...

while sitting there

so many memories came back

one of which was

when all the sister's

and their sister in law

would get together and

bring bags and bags

 and bags of clothes

that us kiddo's

had all grown out of

and they exchanged

 with each other...

those were always

such FUN days

and we got to take

 new clothes

{at least to us} home...

I am so thankful for

obeying the whisperings of a

prompting to drive my Mom

home...I wasn't sure how

she would do with traveling

all day but she did fantastic!

This was a day I hope she

can remember for a long while...

Thankful to get OUT of our HEAT

if only for a day...

thankful for the beauty even in the

driest of dry ground...

sooo thankful for the

time spent with my Mom

and Hubby...

and seeing tons and tons

of cyclists made me want to

get in better shape...

would somebody tell me WHY

in tarnation you would want to

ride a bike up hills in Hell???

Go figure!!!!

Like I said in a couple posts

back...I was so very thankful

for a full moon to

lighten our way home...

there were some deer standing

on the side of the road and

I was able to see them...

what a

GORGEOUS SUPER MOON

we had this week...

LOVED IT!
