Reccer's Notes: Peter and Sylar are held in conjoined rooms, divided by glass. This is one of my old favorites from my early days on LJ :3

Reccer's Notes: You may have noticed by now that I'm extremely polyfannish. I love fanfic, and although I tend to gravitate towards (and away from) certain fandoms, ultimately the quality of writing is much more important to me than what fandom it is.  You may also notice that I love awesome women. [personal profile] medie is awesome and just what I like--lots of great fic in lots of fandoms, and lots of awesome women.  Also, there can never be enough well-written genderswap in the world, and [personal profile] medie does that too.  I've only recced a few of her fics here, but there are so many more great ones you should check out.

Favorite Fanworks:

C'Thia.  Loving someone doesn't mean you understand them. Loving a Vulcan definitely means you don't. Christopher Pike's in love with his science officer, Spock might be in love with him, but that's not even remotely close to the end of the story.

Kaiidth.  She'd lived a lifetime in Spock's shadow. From the moment of their binding, she had been viewed as part and parcel to him.  Awesome T'Pring AU.

Gotham (The Just When You Think You're Out Remix).  "So let me get this straight," Angel says, "Batman got turned into a bat, a woman in fishnets turned him back, and you think your secretary is maybe a demon. That about cover it?"

Parenthetical.  After Elizabeth Weir, John Sheppard, Rodney McKay, and Ronon Dex escape from the Asurans in Lifeline, the ZPM they risked everything for is drained of power during the city's landing on a new planet. Everything that Elizabeth knows about herself could change in a heartbeat. She fears that she could endanger those the loves, so she pushes them away, but John is determined not to let her deal with this on her own. (AU of Adrift)

Q&A.  You didn't burn down your house, Mr. Wayne. Any idiot with a functioning brain can tell that for themselves.

Reccer's Notes: I love [livejournal.com profile] davincis_girl's art. She's done some really amazing stuff and using a variety of different techniques including manip, graphite pencil, digital color and others. I love how she seems to get to the essence of the stories she illustrates and her work looks like she's loved doing it, as much as her audience will enjoy appreciating it.

Favorite Fanworks: Young Sam This piece was made for 2010 SPN Reverse Bang and really captures a supernatural mood.

Stem the tide, Point the blame Made for the X-Men Big Bang, this is multiple pieces, some atmospheric pieces. These were made with a graphics tablet.

And the Void Would Be Calling This piece was made for the Cap_ironman reverse bang 2012. Be warned this art contains a significant character's death. A moving piece.

But The Heart Made for the 2012 Avengers big bang. A great piece, filled with character and works well alongside the story it was made to accompany.

Theme: Creator recs

Reccer's Notes: [livejournal.com profile] obsessive24's ability to construct narratives within a vid is almost beyond compare; she constantly floors me with what she accomplishes and I find myself watching her work over and over, picking up on new details every time I do so.

Favorite Fanworks:
Mad Men - The best Mad Men vid you will ever see, period(unless she manages to make one about the female characters in which case I'll probably be rolling around on the floor): Smoke and Mirrors

Game of Thrones - Ensemble vid: Remember The Name. And I'm not even a GoT fan!

Rome - Vorenious and Antony vid: Virgin. Guh, so good.

BtVS - A Riley POV vid, and an excellent one at that: Don't Forget Me
Bachelorette, an awe-inspiring look at power in the Buffy-verse, the men that try to contain it, and of course all our awesome ladies :D

Damages - Damage. SO AWESOME. Makes for a very brutal dance party ;)

Battlestar Galactica - Slow Down Ghandi, a look at the working class and their struggle against a power institution spiraling out of control.

Multi - Everyone and their mother has probably seen this, but if not, Climbing Up The Walls is a stunning look at the incestual sibling dynamics of Firefly, Supernatural, and Heroes. Well worth a look.

Carnivàle - Jesus for the Jugular, a take on where the third season would have lead.

But seriously, watch all her stuff! There's plenty to chose from within many movies, Merlin, Skins, Queer as Folk, Smallville, House, Angel, etc.

Characters/Pairings: Elle Bishop/Sylar; Elle Bishop/Original Male Character
Rating: Explicit
Length: 3758 words
Author Links: [archiveofourown.org profile] Saathi1013/[personal profile] saathi1013/[livejournal.com profile] saathi1013
Theme: First Time; Female Characters; Superpowers

Summary: Elle grows up and discovers sex. Written in response to baehj2915 's challenge to write a 'sex history' for any Heroes character. Slightly AU (written during season 2, with slight alterations to season 1 canon).

Reccer's Notes: This ain't no fluffy or flangsty first time fic, but, then, if you're familiar with Elle and/or Sylar, you wouldn't expect it to be. An engaging character study of Elle as she grows up in and with the Company (and with electricity at her fingertips), in all sorts of ways. The end gave me chills. Or shocks. ;)

Fandom: Heroes/Survivor (Chuck Palahniuk novel)
Pairing: Nathan Petrelli/Peter Petrelli
Length: ~5,000

Theme: crossover/fusion
Summary: In the Creedish cult, every male firstborn is given the name Adam, while all the others are given the name Tender. All the daughters are called Biddy. All the Tenders (and all the Biddies who don't marry any Adam) are sent to work in the outside world and they'll receive only food and an accommodation for the rest of their life, while the Church gets the profits. They're called "labour missionaries" and must live in chastity. When the Church members feel that the Apocalypse is coming, they "deliver themselves to God" and all the Tenders and the Biddies all over the world must do the same the moment they hear the news. It's called The Deliverance.

Reccer's Notes: This is an amazing story, whether you're familiar with Heroes or with Survivor. I'd really recommend giving this a try because the set up in this universe is simply wonderful. I'd read maybe three Heroes fics ever, but I was so very glad I took a chance on this one. It's very AU, with Peter and Nathan living their lives as part of a strange religious cult. The decisions they make, the way they choose sin and go against everything they've been taught because they can't resist one another. It's simply heartbreaking.
