Summary: This story takes place in the Flashpoint AU 'verse that exists in my head (and this one snippet) where Team One are doctors instead of cops. (It's not that much of a stretch, really - a lot of bad hours, a lot of bad coffee, and more paperwork than anyone would believe.) Anyway, this is the story of how Sophie meets Ed in this universe.

Reccer's Notes: Written for the 2012 Sex is Not the Enemy ficathon, this is a wonderful tender story about the beginning of Ed and Sophie's relationship. Hazel does a fantastic job of showing us both Ed and Sophie's growing interest in each other.

There's sparkage and romance and Ed Lane is the worst cook in history. A sweet fic between two people lusting and falling for each other, reading Crumble usually leaves me feeling very mellowed out.

Summary: All the choices Sam made that led him into the SRU.

The dream lasts until your first dinner home, which is the first time your father has never said anything but good of you, and you think you can make another tour at least. When you call back to Toronto to withdraw your SRU application, you don't even ask how you did.

Reccer's Notes: Canon gives us only very few hard details on how Sam became Sam. The author crafts a story that's simultaneously made of tiny details and requires much reading between the lines. It's written in the second person, and that's how this story - with all those bad things that happen in lives touched by war and the military and the people who don't quite come back - is on my comfort list: it's for not feeling like one is alone with any of this, and for believing (for remembering) that it's possible to take those things and make something else good of them.
