Themes: Enemies to lovers, Action/adventure, Amnesty, Arranged marriage, Polyamory, Post-canon.
Summary:
Hermione frowned. “The real question is why the magic of Britain would be failing now, in fact.”
“That is not the real question!” Ron said loudly; he’d woken up fully by now, and Harry had too; it was starting to sink in that they’d found the problem. “The real question is, how do we fix it?”
Reccer's Notes: A new novel-length story by astolat in HP verse (Epilogue what Epilogue), set post-canon when they're young adults, where the magical world is under threat as magic is failing all over Britain with spells not working and apparating wizards and witches being splinched left and right. They're aurors and Hermione works out what's going on, which is connected to Arthurian mythology. It's a riveting story which focuses on Draco, to whom Harry's drawn despite himself in a rather dubcon relationship (initially, that is), as is typical of astolat. Their relationship's explored and deepened across the fic, and is interwoven with Hermione and Ron's relationship. For me, the stand-out aspect of this entertaining story is the combining of HP verse with the Arthurian mythos - it works wonderfully and makes complete sense, and explores personal agency versus the exigencies of power and the responsibilities of kingship. All this, while Hermione's having fits about the lack of democracy despite being caught up in those same exigencies. Very much recommended - an excellent read.
