busaikko
Theme: Hurt/Comfort
Summary: Fraser hears voices, and Ray lives one ordinary day at a time.
Reccer's Notes: Four years after a hostage situation gone many kinds of wrong, Fraser and RayK live together in Chicago.
What sounds like a regular set-up for slash becomes something else as we soon learn that Fraser's gone, well, wrong too. This is a story that has a hard and irredeemably realistic approach to the idea of Fraser and RayK as a "duet".
The Fraser in this fic is broken-yet-functional.
busaikko's talent is obvious in how Fraser's well-loved quirks (he talks to ghosts! he's prudish! he's wicked smart!) have most (if not all) of the whimsy taken out of them.
It is RayK, however, who carries this story. He's the heart, his every thought directed at Fraser as they go on in their daily life.
The comfort he finds at the end of the story might leave you teary-eyed, but that doesn't mean this isn't a worthy read.

Date: 2011-08-24 02:21 am (UTC)IIRC, I was in tears the first few time I read this fic many years ago and it hasn't lost any of its potency since then.
