Packages

A package is a set of tickets sold together at one price. A family ticket of two adults and two children. A table of six. A weekend pass for the Friday and the Saturday. The customer buys one thing; the booking holds the tickets inside it.

Packages are in every paid plan.

Why a package holds no seats

A package has no capacity of its own. The tickets inside it do. Sell a family ticket and four places go from the room, exactly as if four tickets had been bought one by one. So the room is counted once, however a seat was sold, and you never have to split sixty places between "sold as tickets" and "sold as packages".

It also means a package sells out by itself. When one of the tickets inside it has no places left, the package shows as sold out too.

Making one

On the event's Tickets tab, press Add package. It joins the same list as the tickets, marked Package, and opens with:

Package name, Price and Description : What the customer sees. The price is the price of the whole package, not of each ticket inside it.

Contents : Every ticket on the event, with a box beside each. Tick the ones the package holds, and set how many of each: Adult ×2, Child ×2. If the event has no tickets yet, + Create a ticket for this package makes one for you.

Covers several dates : Shown on an event with more than one date. Leave it off for a package used on one date, the family ticket. Tick it for a package that spans dates, and see Courses and passes.

Deposit, Sale window and Order limits : The same as on a ticket, for the package as a whole. An early-bird family ticket stops selling on a date; Max per order stops one booking taking ten.

Active : Turn it off without deleting it.

Tickets only a package sells

The tickets inside a package are real tickets: they carry the seats, the questions asked of each attendee and the PDF template. Sometimes you do not want them sold on their own. A Child ticket may only make sense inside the family package.

Open that ticket and switch on Only sold in packages. The booking form stops offering it by itself, its price reads In the package, and the row is marked Package only. A ticket made with + Create a ticket for this package starts that way.

What the customer sees

A package that is used on one date sits among the tickets, with its own counter, and can go into the same booking as ordinary tickets: one family ticket and two extra adults.

The booking then holds the tickets the package contains, so the door list, the check-in and the ticket PDFs all see four people with four codes. Each one still answers the questions its own ticket asks.

A package that covers several dates is offered differently, above the dates, because it answers when as well as what. That is described in Courses and passes.

At the desk
