Under LEED v5, IAQ points are awarded by tier, based on actual measured concentrations of CO₂, TVOCs, and PM2.5. The gap between clearing prerequisites and reaching the highest tiers comes down to sensor coverage, measurement accuracy, and data traceability. Two devices can both claim LEED compatibility and deliver very different scores. Swipe to see how the scoring works and what monitoring capability each tier requires. #LEED #LEEDv5 #IndoorAirQuality #IAQ #IAQMonitoring #USGBC

Save the date! On 𝟳 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿, inBiot will be live-monitoring indoor air quality across the Palau de les Arts venue in Valencia at IoT Sparks ✨, with 𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗔 𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 continuously tracking CO₂, humidity, temperature and noise throughout the event. If you'll be at IoT Sparks and want to see the data in real time, or explore how continuous IAQ monitoring can apply to your buildings and projects, feel free to reach out with Iñigo Idoate Sagardia, Goksu Ozdemir and Miguel Escribano Hierro to arrange a meeting.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 "𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿𝘀" 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁? On 29 June 2026, wildfire smoke from fires roughly 800 km away settled over Alberta's Bow Valley. Canada's Air Quality Health Index hit 11, above the top of its normal scale. The public guidance was the usual one: stay indoors. Inside a long term care facility in Canmore, an inBiot MICA had been recording indoor air quality every 15 minutes throughout the episode. That continuous dataset, covering six full days, made it possible to benchmark real indoor conditions against three international references: WHO, WELL v2, and GO IAQS; each with different thresholds and averaging periods. The nearest official reference station was 100 km away. It couldn't have told this building what was really happening inside its own walls. This analysis was researched, coordinated and written by Miguel Escribano Hierro, in collaboration with Adam Ludgate from Cirkuit, the Calgary-based smart building platform whose client made this data available. During a wildfire event, the standard rules for managing indoor air quality no longer apply. The decisions building operators face in these situations are not obvious and getting them wrong in either direction has consequences for the people inside. Understanding how wildfire smoke behaves inside buildings is not just a research question. It has direct implications for building operations, emergency response planning, and the standards that will govern indoor environments in the years ahead. The National Research Council Canada / Conseil national de recherches Canada is generating that understanding, using inBiot's monitoring infrastructure across research and workplace settings in Sherbrooke. Multi-parameter, continuous data on PM2.5, TVOCs, formaldehyde, NO₂, CO, and CO₂ across 𝟲𝟮 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 provides the resolution needed to study infiltration dynamics under real wildfire conditions. What makes this work relevant beyond the lab: wildfire events are occurring across multiple continents with increasing frequency, and most buildings have no way to detect smoke infiltration, measure its composition, or know when the risk window has passed. Research like the NRC's is where that understanding begins. Wildfires in Europe are no longer a seasonal anomaly. In 2023, fires burned more than 500,000 ha across the EU. In 2025, the cumulative burnt area exceeded 1 million hectares by August. The events make headlines. What happens to the air inside buildings during and after these episodes receives far less attention. Most building operators are working with monitoring tools that were not designed for this scenario. The assumptions that guide everyday IAQ management do not hold when outdoor air is the source of contamination. Swipe to understand what wildfire smoke actually contains, how it enters occupied spaces, and what it takes to detect it. #IndoorAirQuality #IAQ #PM25 #WildfireSmoke #HealthyBuildings #HVAC

What if the hotel where you're staying this summer is WELL certified? Not just aesthetically iconic, but certified for the quality of the air its guests breathe. Hotel Arts Barcelona, one of Europe's reference luxury hotels, is pursuing WELL Certification as part of a broader commitment to guest wellbeing and environmental excellence. To meet WELL's requirements for continuous indoor air quality monitoring, the project was developed in collaboration with Aire Limpio. The deployment covers 𝟲𝟵 𝗠𝗜𝗖𝗔 𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 across selected hotel areas, monitoring CO₂, TVOCs, PM2.5, formaldehyde, ozone and thermal comfort parameters continuously. Data flows into the My inBiot Business platform, generating centralized dashboards and automated WELL-ready reports. The result: auditable, high-resolution IAQ data that supports WELL features A01, A05, A08, T01 and T02, while remaining fully discreet within a luxury hospitality environment. Annual IAQ testing captures building performance on a single day. Certification bodies for 𝗕𝗢𝗠𝗔 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧, 𝗟𝗘𝗘𝗗, and 𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟 are increasingly built around something different: ongoing, verifiable data across the full occupancy cycle. Our partners at cirkuit have published a detailed breakdown of why continuous monitoring changes the compliance equation for these three standards, and how their 𝗟𝗼𝗥𝗮𝗪𝗔𝗡 platform, integrated with inBiot MICA sensors, makes that practical at the building level. The article covers what each standard actually requires from an IAQ data standpoint, where snapshot testing creates structural gaps for the WELL Performance Rating in particular, and how the economics shift when IAQ monitoring shares infrastructure already deployed for other building systems. If you're working through IAQ requirements for BOMA BEST, LEED, or WELL, it's worth a read: https://lnkd.in/gRkxvmqM #BOMABEST #LEED #WELLBuildingStandard #IndoorAirQuality #IAQ

Monitoring tells you how the air is. Forecasting tells you where it is heading. Following our publication earlier this year in Forecasting (MDPI), Peio Garcia Pinilla from our team has written a technical article on our blog that synthesizes the findings from both research papers on indoor CO₂ forecasting and translates them into a practical decision framework. Which forecasting strategy fits spaces with sporadic occupancy? Which one makes sense when occupancy follows a recognizable cycle? Where do simple models hold up, and where does machine learning earn its place? The article also introduces foundation models as a genuinely new development in this field: models pre-trained on large time series corpora that deliver accurate forecasts from the moment a sensor is installed, with no historical data required. Full methodology, results across six building types, and practical conclusions are available in the article.
