Too tired to drive? Fatigue behind the wheel isn't always easy to spot. What if technology could help detect it before it becomes a safety risk? In Edinburgh and Debrecen, the BaselineNC™ Workplace Fatigue Monitoring Wearable from Integrated Human Factors (IHF) showed how real-time biometric monitoring can help public transport operators detect signs of fatigue and alert both drivers and control room staff. 📍 In Edinburgh, 20 participants tested the technology across tram operations, supporting the city’s Vision Zero ambition. 📍 In Debrecen, the pilot covered trams, buses and trolleybuses, with more than 80% of participants saying they would continue using the system. The pilots also showed that technology is only part of the solution: training, clear procedures and good integration into daily operations matter just as much. 🔎 Road freight moves around 75% of Europe's goods, making it the backbone of our economy, but also one of the toughest sectors to decarbonise. It demands practical solutions that make electrification, digitalisation and emissions reporting accessible. Exciting to see companies like NexDash, Meight and Arxax tackling these challenges from different angles, helping accelerate the shift towards a more sustainable and competitive freight sector. ⤵️

Urban mobility isn't a collection of technologies anymore, it's an ecosystem. Sensors, connectivity, data analytics, digital infrastructure and engineering all have a role to play. The real impact happens when these layers work together. That's exactly what we're seeing across the EIT Urban Mobility ecosystem: 📡 Libelium: real-world IoT sensing 🔗 Vortex: system connectivity 🧠 Transcality: mobility data intelligence 🏗️ Omnia Smart Technologies: infrastructure integration ⚙️ TEA Group SpA: engineering and deployment Different expertise with one shared goal: creating mobility systems that are smarter, more resilient and built around people's needs. #Marketplace #UrbanMobility #Ecosystem #Data #Tech

Accessible parking spaces only create inclusion if they're available when they're needed most... but sometimes that's not happening! That's why the City of Aarhus partnered with GoodVision through our RAPTOR programme to pilot an AI-powered solution that monitors accessible parking usage in real time. The findings showed: 📍 Residential accessible parking is used much more during the night. 📍 Commercial areas follow completely different demand patterns. 📍 Real-time monitoring can help cities better match parking provision to residents' needs. Beyond enforcement, the solution also allows drivers with disabilities to check parking availability before they travel, making journeys easier and reducing uncertainty. 🤝 It's a simple example of how data can support more inclusive mobility!
