To look back at the history of World Expos is to look back at the history of how we imagine the future. They reveal how each era chooses to represent itself: through the spaces it builds, the stories it tells, and the technologies it embraces. Our latest article traces more than three decades of this evolution, exploring how World Expos have transformed alongside the ideas and technologies that continue to shape cultural experiences today. A journey from Expo '92 in Seville to Dubai 2020, and a reflection on what these global gatherings reveal about the changing relationship between culture, innovation, and society. Today we published ACCIONA's first-half results. The numbers are solid, but what matters most is the trend they confirm. We are living through a structural infrastructure investment cycle, driven by geopolitics and by a technological explosion that will raise global electricity demand by at least 40% over the next decade. The constraint in this cycle is not demand, and it is not capital. Both are abundant. What is scarce is execution: bankable, ready-to-build projects, delivered as integrated systems rather than isolated assets. Countries no longer measure their competitiveness in GDP alone. They measure it in gigawatts, in water security, and in how fast they can build. On that last measure most of the world is behind, and closing that gap is the business we are in. This half is that work at scale. Infrastructure EBITDA grew 12%, on a concessional order book of €136 billion, the largest in our history. Nordex Group secured 4.9 GW of new orders, up 10% year-on-year. And ACCIONA Energía continued to crystallize value through asset rotation, with nearly €500 million in recent transactions. Congratulations, and thank you, to all the ACCIONA teams behind them. #BusinessAsUnusual #ACCIONA1H26 #ACCIONAteam

New edition of our #newsletter PEOPLE&PLANET! We present our first-half 2026 results, celebrate the acquisition of an infrastructure company in the United States, a record sustainability rating in Australia and the opening of the first stations on Line 6 of the São Paulo metro, and travel to the Philippines to see up close the social impact a railway line is generating in its community. But we also feature a conversation with Javier García Ruiz, who has travelled the world with ACCIONA, along with a selection of analyses on the active recovery of ecosystems and on how decentralization drives the regeneration of infrastructure. Let's begin 👇

ACCIONA Reaches Financial Close on New Zealand’s Largest Public Private Partnership ACCIONA, alongside partner Aberdeen Investments, comprises the Northway Consortium which has reached Financial Close with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) for the Warkworth to Te Hana project. The Warkworth to Te Hana project is a section of Ara Tūhono, which forms part of the Northland Corridor. This marks the successful completion of the procurement process enabling the delivery of New Zealand's largest public private partnership infrastructure project with a total overall project cost of approximately NZ$3.649 billion net present value (NPV) during its 32-year construction and operating duration. This includes a nominal cost of around NZ$3 billion to design and build the road. The milestone represents a major step forward in the delivery of a transformational transport corridor that will provide a safer, more resilient and more efficient connection between Auckland and Northland. It will improve freight efficiency, support regional growth and strengthen transport reliability for communities and businesses. Northway is responsible for financing, delivering and operating the Warkworth to Te Hana project under a long-term concession arrangement with NZTA. This brings together the combined and proven capability of ACCIONA and Aberdeen Investments in the financing, development and operation of transport infrastructure projects locally and globally. ACCIONA will also undertake the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the project, drawing on its extensive experience delivering complex transport infrastructure. Self-performing critical elements of the works including major earthworks, tunnelling, civil works and systems. #ACCIONAteam #BusinessAsUnusual #SustainableInfrastructure

Diaphragm walls complete at Clayton station site, in Melbourne Australia. We've made 123 diaphragm walls for the Clayton station box, marking a major step for Melbourne’s Suburban Rail Loop East. This milestone enables excavation of the station box to begin, setting the foundations for the Suburban Rail Loop station at Clayton to take passengers in 2035. The scope of these works involved constructing 123 reinforced concrete panels to form the station box perimeter and the underground passenger link to the existing station. Diaphragm walls, or d-walls, are critical to stabilising deep excavations and are installed before any soil is removed. Work began in April 2025 and concluded recently with the final panel poured during an overnight shift. Each wall was built by excavating a narrow trench which was then filled with reinforced concrete, creating a reinforced concrete wall section. With this phase complete, the next step is excavation, bringing Melbourne closer to a resilient transport connection that will serve its growing population for decades to come. #ACCIONAteam #BusinessAsUnusual #SustainableInfrastructure #SuburbanRailLoop #MelbourneInfrastructure

Seventeen members of the Suburban Connect team marked International Women in Engineering Day by tackling the future of inclusion and innovation in Melbourne, Australia. The consortium delivering Suburban Rail Loop East, including ACCIONA, joined Engineers Australia recently, for a day of discussion and collaboration on how technology and diversity intersect in shaping the industry. The daytime session explored how artificial intelligence is transforming engineering workflows, from automating processes to accelerating delivery. Participants worked on practical strategies to ensure these tools are adopted responsibly, with equity and trust at the core. For ACCIONA Quality Graduate Parvana Hashimi, the event reinforced the importance of critical thinking in innovation. “My key takeaway is to approach emerging AI technologies more critically while staying open to innovation, and I will be taking that mindset into my work moving forward,” she said. The evening event created space for networking and deeper conversations, strengthening professional connections and continuing the dialogue on AI and inclusion across the sector. Building sustainable infrastructure is not only about engineering solutions but also about fostering diverse perspectives that make those solutions stronger. #ACCIONAteam #BusinessAsUnusual #SustainableInfrastructure #WomenInEngineering #ArtificialIntelligence
