Summer Fun

Jeffrey was playing with the friend outside at the end of church and he was bumped into the metal casing of the window and split his head open.  So we went to the ER where they decided to glue it shut instead of sow it shut.  Jeffrey did a great job at not playing with it and it lastest 2 weeks before falling off.

Richard Scott went to a week long Boy Scout Camp and it rained the whole week.  Not just a sprinkle but rained and poured.  He accomplished his mile swim and wilderness survival and came home exhausted but a changed boy.

During this same week David had his week long Day Camp.  The sun camp out one night and they had a helicopter come and David and Jeffrey were able to sit in it.  The last event of the camp is the mud pit.  David was very hesitant to get dirty but found his inner kids and ended up loving it.  They local fire department was there to hose them off at the end.  It was a great week for him.                                                                                                                          Grandpa Don came to visit and we loved having him here. He came along on all of adventures and one day we went to see old cars and the temple. I forget to take pictures sometimes.  

Surgery # 2 and Utah

6 days after my second surgery we stopped by the Doctors office for his okay and then drove out to Utah.  We went to the Payson Temple Open House, Family Campout, visited family and ended by visiting Arches National Park before heading home.

Surgery #1 and Finishing the school year 2014-15

Sumer had her tonsils removed.  The family decided that they don’t like it when Sumer can’t talk for a week.  Jeffrey did a great job taking care of Mom when she could talk because he couldn’t read like everyone else.  He sat next to her on the couch and kept her company. 

 Before the 2014-15 school year end David and Richard Scott had some fun events at school.  David was Hermes a Greek God for Spectrum’s Wax Museum, Richard Scott had a choir concert and was able to dissect a pigeon for Science.  With his skills he could be a surgeon one day but I think that would interfere with his pilot career.

Downtown St. Louis 

We did an overnight stay in downtown St. Louis.  Sumer and the boys went to the Outlet Mall were Richard Scott received his first dad style wallet then to the Science Center.  We also went to the top of the St. Louis Arch, Fitz’s -a local root beer place, were able to spend the night in a hotel and watch the first session of General Conference.  A great mini vacation.

While Sumer was having a sleep study, the boys (including Dad), had a read-a-thon.  April Fool’s Day dinner included extra special creatures in our tacos.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day 6 month later.  I’ll try to catch up on the all the event in the last 6 months.  Hold your hats and here we go.

Another First - I was in Utah at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital seeing my brother who is in critical condition so Richard took care of the first and second day of school all by himself.  Richard Scott entered middle school as a 6th grader.  David is alone in elementary for the first time as a 4th grader and Jeffrey loved having one on one time with Dad.

For Family Home Evening  Richard made Smores for a treat and it was a hit.  It was hard to miss another important event however  I had some sweet experiences at the hospital that I will hopefully share with my brother in this life or the next.

Easter 2014 - The first holiday that I missed.  I can’t give you the details because I wasn’t here.

The Storm - 

David had 1 broke bone,1 bowed bone, 2 hospital, 1 ambulance ride, 24 hours of antibiotics (due to the bone exiting and reentering his skin), lots of pain medication, many X-rays, many Dr. and lots of waiting we were able to come home Monday evening.  We go in tomorrow to see if the bone is healing and still in place or if he get pins but in his arm.

 So much for a calm summer and school starts monday.

The Calm Before the Storm -

August 2- The count down for school has begun.  It was a normal Saturday when Dad is gone.  Chore is morning playing.  I did make a fun lunch, the boys enjoyed playing with their cousin Ara who was visiting.  We did porch caulk and had our friends the Scott’s over for dinner.  They surprised us with a great treat for after dinner.

All the work we have done in our yard can be seen from outer space.
