Maybe this is a precedent that should be broken? I quite like the idea of recording the titles a player has attained (FIDE or otherwise) and the year they attained them in the infobox. It's all relevant biographical info. MaxBrowne (talk) 10:01, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think it's OK to record more than one title too, if we judge it to be appropriate for the particular article. For example, I don't think CM or FM title years deserve to be in the infobox unless they are the highest title achieved, but even though the IM title is higher in rank than WGM I think it would be good to include both in articles on female IMs. (For women who are GMs then we would have to decide whether to list any of the lesser titles as well.) Brittle heaven made some interesting comments about this on WT:CHESS, although his suggestion is a bit different than mine. Quale (talk) 00:02, 3 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I think titles related to chess but not to OTB playing strength should be noted too, such as ICCF GM, International Arbiter, International Trainer, Grandmaster of Chess Composition, Grandmaster of Problem Solving etc. In any case I think the year a title was achieved is relevant info and should be included in the infobox if known.
