He made his professional debut in 1995 in Leganés, where he only played one match, signing in the following year for Mérida where he was a fundamental pillar to get the promotion to Primera Division. In Mérida was until 1997, when Fabio Capello [[Fabio Capello]] requested his transfer to Real Madrid for 800 million of pesetas, although in his unique campaign like "Merengue" player only lasted four months, and was yielded to Valladolid, because forwards like Fernando Morientes , Pedrag Mijatovic, Davor Suker and Raúl closed the doors of the white team. In addition, his great defender Fabio Capello, was no longer in charge.
