Summary
| Description | A U.S. Navy McDonnell F-8C Crusader (BuNo 146993) from Fighter Squadron VF-91 Red Lightnings in flight. VF-91 was assigned to Carrier Air Group 9 (CVG-9) aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger (CVA-61) for a deployment to the Western Pacific from 9 November 1962 to 14 June 1963. The F-8C 146993 was later shot down by flak over the Red River delta, North Vietnam, on 12 August 1967 while in service with VF-111 (CVW-16, USS Oriskany (CVA-34)). The pilot ejected and was rescued. |
